Offered here is a 1965 Jaguar XKE E-Type Series I Open-Two-Seater (OTS). This is a numbers matching example, as verified by the Jaguar Heritage Trust COA, and within the first few hundred 4.2L E-Types built (Serial Number 10199). Signal Red with black interior and black Stayfast top and boot cover.When we acquired this car, it was in the midst of a full restoration and the owner who loved the car unfortunately was not in a position to finish it due to his failing health. Upon accepting delivery of the car to our facility, we put it through our exhaustive Cooper Classics Certification program and just recently we completed the full restoration. The result is a stunning, correct car that is ready to drive and be enjoyed. Serial Number 10199 starts instantly and runs just the way Jaguar intended. It shifts through all gears with ease with a solid suspension. Power is vast and smooth throughout the power band, with an impressive exhaust note coming from the correct porcelain headers, running its way through a stainless steel exhaust system. The carburetors are properly tuned and balanced, and the choke functions as it should. The car resided originally in Wisconsin at one point, eventually making its way to Illinois and from there, it came to New York, where we purchased it. This is a stunning freshly restored 1965 Jaguar XKE E-Type Series I Open-Two-Seater (OTS) roadster thatis a numbers matching example, as verified by the Jaguar Heritage Trust COA. This E-Type is also within the first few hundred 4.2 E-Types built (Serial Number 10199). This Jaguar was about 75f the way through its restoration when the owner, John Burnham, was no longer able top complete it due to health issues. The E-Type was acquired by Cooper Classics (NYC, New York), in early 2019 who then commissioned Briarcliff Classics to complete the restoration which concluded earlier this year. According to Cooper Classics, this Jaguar was originally delivered to an owner in Wisconsin, eventually making its way to Illinois and then New York. It is believed that this is the first time that this car has been offered for sale publicly. The restoration started with a nice and solid, rust-free original example. With matching numbers and one of the first 200 built, this originally Opalescent Golden Sand on Light Tan E-Type was ripe for restoration. Briarcliff Classics has done a wonderful job of injecting new life into what is now a fully sorted roadster ready to be driven an enjoyed. Be sure to note the manuals, receipts, and documentation photos at the end of the photo gallery. The restoration was completed in June 2019, where it has remained in sellers care ever since. This E-Type has been beautifully finished in Signal Red complimented by a black Stayfast convertible top and boot cover, complete with chrome wire wheels, giving it a classic and spectacular look. This 1965 Jaguar XKE is a series I roadster that was built on October 20, 1964, and distributed through Jaguar Cars of New York. The car is said to have been refurbished by Briarcliff Classic & Imported of Briarcliff Manor, New York, in the 2010s before it was acquired by the seller in late 2020. The car is finished in red with a black soft top over black leather upholstery, and power comes from a numbers-matching 4.2-liter XK inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. An April 2021 service included rebuilds of the brake calipers and turn signal switch in addition to the replacement of the water pump, fan blade, and fan motor. This XKE is now offered with factory books, a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, service records, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

Delivered from the factory in Opalescent Golden Sand, the car is said to have received bodywork and a repaint in its current Carmen Red during the 2010s refurbishment. Features include split chrome bumpers with overriders, dual mirrors, glass headlight covers, hood louvers, and polished moldings. The top latches were repaired in April 2021.

The 15″ wire wheels feature two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with Coker Classic redline radial tires. The front and rear brake calipers were rebuilt by Blackhorse Motor Sports of Los Angeles, California, in April 2021.

The cabin was upholstered in black leather with matching door panels and carpets approximately 12 years ago according to the seller. Equipment includes a windshield-mounted rearview mirror, an Optimus cassette player with auxiliary input, and lap belts. The clock was repaired and the turn signal switch was rebuilt in April 2021.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline and an inset clock. Switchgear and auxiliary gauges are mounted in the center of the dashboard. Just under 85k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer. Total mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six features dual overhead camshafts and triple SU carburetors for a factory rating of 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. A replacement water pump was installed in April 2021 along with a new radiator fan and motor. An oil change was also performed at that time.

Cylinder head stamping 7E1437–9 matches the engine number listed on the engine block, chassis tag, and the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.

Chassis stamping 10199 corresponds to the 199th left-hand-drive roadster equipped with the 4.2-liter inline-six.

The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate lists powertrain numbers and original colors as well as an October 20, 1964, date of manufacture. The car is titled by number “1E10199”, only the last five digits of which appear on the chassis plate.

Factory books are included in the sale.
