This is my second E-Type; earlier I owned a 1969 Series II, which got me to hankering for a Series I. I purchased my treasure in 1997 and have only put 2500 miles on it -- the odometer just ticked over to 52,000 today, and I suspect this is accurate!

This 1966 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster that was manufactured on March 11, 1965, and distributed new in the US through Jaguar Cars of New York. It is finished in Opalescent Silver Blue over Dark Blue leather and power comes from a 4.2-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a black soft top, three SU carburetors, chrome 15″ wire wheels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a vintage-style aftermarket AM/FM radio. The car was acquired by the current owner in 2019, and subsequent work consisted of reupholstering the interior, refinishing the valve covers, as well as replacing the shocks, exhaust system, and ignition components. This Series I XKE roadster is now offered on dealer consignment with recent records, a repair manual, a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, and a clean Oregon title.
The body is said to have been refinished in its factory color of Opalescent Silver Blue in during prior ownership. Features include a replacement folding black soft top, split front and rear bumpers, glass headlight covers, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome windshield and door-top moldings.
Chrome 15” wire wheels are secured with two-eared knock-offs and wear Yokohama Avid Touring S tires. The six shock absorbers were replaced in December 2019. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rears.
The cabin was reupholstered in 2020 in Dark Blue leather with a matching center console, door panels, carpets, and a replacement black dashboard cover. Equipment includes lap belts, a heater, toggle switches for vehicle functions, and a vintage-style aftermarket AM/FM radio. The heater boxes were also resealed.
A wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 59k miles, and the total mileage is unknown.
The twin-cam 4.2L inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque when new. Service under current ownership has included refinishing the valve covers as well as replacing the exhaust manifold and system, filters, heat shields, hardware, and ignition components.
Cylinder-head stamping 7E 3247-9 matches the engine number noted on the chassis identification plate and Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate indicates a manufacture date of March 11, 1965 and lists the original colors, equipment, and identification numbers, as well as distribution through Jaguar Cars of New York.
The chassis tag lists body number 1E10779 and the car is titled in Oregon using “10779.”
