This 1965 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster that was completed on September 16, 1965, and distributed to Montreal via Jaguar of Eastern Canada. The car was reportedly exported to the UK in 1986, where it was refurbished by Castle Classic Cars in the late 2010s. Work involved repainting the body red, reupholstering the interior in black leather, and overhauling the suspension. The car is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission, and additional equipment includes a black convertible soft top with a matching boot as well as 15″ wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, and a push-button radio. Acquired by the seller in 2021 and subsequently re-imported to Canada, this XKE is now offered with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, refurbishment records, partial service records, and Ontario registration in the seller’s name.

Finished from the factory in Carmen Red, the car received a replacement forward-hinged hood and various body panels before being repainted as part of the aforementioned refurbishment. A Suffolk & Turley black mohair convertible top with a matching cover is said to have been installed at that time, and further exterior details include recessed headlights with clear covers, split chrome-finished bumpers, dual exhaust outlets, and taillights mounted above the rear bumpers. A chip in the windshield is noted by the seller.

Replacement chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured via two-eared knock-off spinners and wear 185-width Blockley tires, while a matching spare is mounted under the trunk floor. The front suspension was overhauled, while the rear shocks and springs were replaced as part of the refurbishment. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes, with the rears mounted inboard. The brake pads and lines were also replaced during the refurbishment, per the seller.

The reupholstered interior features low-back bucket seats trimmed in black leather accompanied by a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. Lap belts are provided for both occupants, and additional appointments include a sliding rear-view mirror as well as a push-button radio linked to speakers mounted on each side of the center stack. The seller states that the clock functions intermittently.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel is said to be mounted on a quick-release hub and fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock. Auxiliary gauges are housed in the center stack above a row of toggle switches for vehicle functions. The five-digit odometer shows 52k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership.

The 4.2-liter inline-six was overhauled in 1999 and is equipped with triple SU carburetors and polished valve covers. A big-valve cylinder head was reportedly fitted under previous ownership, and work performed during the 2010s refurbishment included replacing the wiring harness and installing a 123ignition electronic distributor, a Lucas ignition coil, and a high-torque starter.

Block stamping 7E5789-9 is listed on the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate as the engine number.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission that was rebuilt in 1999. The rear axle was overhauled and the fuel tank was replaced as part of the refurbishment.

A collection of photos taken during the refurbishment accompany the sale.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as build and dispatch dates.

The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a country that does not issue titles for vehicles. It is being sold on its Ontario registration.
