This 1966 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster finished in red with a black convertible top over a black leather interior and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes four-wheel disc brakes, independent rear suspension, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, triple SU carburetors, a Nardi wood-rimmed steering wheel, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo. Service in preparation for the sale included new spark plugs, carburetor and choke adjustments, a new electric cooling fan, and new brake soft lines. This XKE roadster was acquired by the selling dealer in June 2020 and is now offered at no reserve in Arizona with a full-size spare tire and a clean California title.
The body is finished in red with a black folding soft top and a black top boot. Features include split front and rear bumpers, glass headlight covers, and chrome windshield and door top moldings. The selling dealer notes that the car was refinished during previous ownership, and a dent is visible below the passenger door handle.
15″ knock-off wire wheels are wrapped in Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors were standard equipment, and the car rides on four-wheel independent suspension with torsion bars up front and coil springs at the rear. Service in June 2020 included installing new brake hoses and bleeding the brake system.
The interior is trimmed in black leather with matching carpets and door panels, a black dash, and black lap belts. An AM/FM/cassette stereo is fitted in the center stack, and the trunk is lined in tan carpet.
The wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock. Ancillary gauges for water temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are mounted in the center of the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 55k miles, and true mileage is unknown.
The 4.2L twin-cam inline-six is equipped with triple SU side-draft carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Service at British Automotive Repair in Scottsdale, Arizona in June 2020 included installing new spark plugs, adjusting and balancing the carburetors, and installing an electric cooling fan.
