This 1966 Jaguar XKE is a Series 1 roadster that is finished in green over tan leather with a matching convertible top. Service following the seller’s acquisition in 2012 included resealing of its replacement 4.2-liter inline-six, an overhaul of its four-speed manual transmission, and other work 2k miles ago in 2013. This Series I E-Type is offered with partial service receipts, owner’s and shop manuals, a spare wheel, and a clean Michigan title in the seller’s name.

Bodywork was carried out in the front end and other areas under previous ownership according to the seller. Blemishes include chips in the nose and aft of the right door as well as a crack ahead of the left door. New bumper overriders and body gaskets were installed by the previous owner in the late 1990s, and the brake lights were repaired in 2013.

The tan canvas manual top stows beneath a black boot as shown in the gallery below. Chrome 72-spoke knock-off wire wheels wear 15″ Vredestein Sprint Classic tires, and a spare is housed in the trunk along with a knock-off mallet and jack kit. The antenna mast is creased, and a replacement is included in the sale.

The two-place cockpit is trimmed in tan leather over low-backed seats with lap belts. Brown floor mats cover tan carpets. A Motorola transistor radio remains in place ahead of the shifter, and aftermarket speakers are mounted against the transmission tunnel. The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths tachometer with an integrated clock, a 160-mph speedometer, and a five-digit odometer showing 90k miles, 2k of which were added by the seller. Total chassis mileage is unknown. The black dash houses early-style toggle switches and supplementary gauges. A new switch legend was applied in 2013.

The replacement 4.2-liter inline-six was installed under previous ownership and serviced approximately 2k miles ago in 2013 with new main seals, valvetrain work, and more. Induction is via triple SU carburetors with polished bells, and a stainless steel exhaust system was fitted in the 1990s. Oil changes and other maintenance have been performed by the seller, most recently in October 2019. The four-speed manual transmission was rebuilt in 2013 with a replacement cluster gear, bearings, layshaft, and seals. A new clutch and slave cylinder were also fitted along with stainless steel rear brake calipers. The front suspension is said to have been refurbished in the 1990s, and Koni shocks are featured all around.

Documents include partial service records from previous ownership, an owner’s manual, and a Haynes repair guide.
