Current bid $15,100 reserve not met, 5 bids, 8 days left in auction.

    Sellers description:
1967 JAGUAR XKE Roadster E Type

    VIN 1E14161
    Engine # 7E11139-9

Up for auction is a 1967 Jaguar XKE E Type Roadster that does run and does drive. It would not take much to make this car very roadworthy.

We received the car about 4 months ago from a customer that had some health issues. The car has been stored for over 15 years in a garage with a few other cars. I purchased everything as a package and feel this Jaguar should go to a real Jaguar person that could turn this car into a high caliber, quality Jaguar, the way that it should be. It has been stored for so long that he could not find the keys, but being a car guy I had to answer some questions for myself. It is a very easy car to hotwire by the way the dash folds down. So we changed the oil, and put in fresh gas and a new battery removed all of the spark plugs, and ran a compression which was over 160 pounds in each cylinder. I was told by the previous owner that this motor had been rebuilt by a company named Delong’s Jaguar Repair in Campbell, California. We primed the motor with oil and we proceeded to start the car. It started right up and ran just beautifully. We let it run for over 20 minutes and then we drove the car around the block. The transmission shifts fine and the car did not smoke and had very good oil pressure. The car is in need of brake work, which is no surprise after sitting for 15 years. The rear brake calipers are sticking.

This would not take very much to make this car very roadworthy, but a lot of detail would be needed as you are doing all of this work. I feel it would be a great small project for a Jaguar enthusiast. It is a very together car and has every piece on it which is very important. The windows roll up fine, all of the glass on the car is in very good condition including the headlight lenses over the headlights. All of the bumpers are in great shape and only a few of them would need to be rechromed. The interior of the car is all original and would need very little attention to make it nice. The convertible top bows operate just fine and just clean up would be needed when you install the new top material. The paint on the car would need to be done and there is no major body work to be done that we could see. You can see there are some bubbles in some of the areas of the pictures that are very minor. This is a California car and this is to be expected. The mounts on the trailing arms have been repaired some time ago which I am told is very common on a Jaguar, but the job looked nicely done.

This car is not over the top for anybody that would like to redo a Jaguar the way that it should be done. I know Jag people can be picky and they have every right to be because of the price that this car will demand when it is resold. I wish I had the time to redo this car myself.

We encourage anyone who plans to bid on any car to come and see it to feel and touch it. We are just minutes away from the San Jose airport.

On Aug-08-07 at 13:31:39 PDT, seller added the following information:
I was asked to look at the flat part of the engine above the oil filter for the engine number that was actually on the engine itself and it was found to be the same number as on the data plate. Also there does not appear to be any Bondo on the car from what we can tell. The car was repainted at one time and there is some peeling paint on the hood of the car, possibly from sitting in the same spot in the garage for over 15 years and having the sunlight hit it.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
