This 1967 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster that was built on March 13, 1967 and dispatched to Jaguar of Eastern Canada in Montreal before being sold to its first owner in Minneapolis. Following the seller’s acquisition in California in November 2014, the car underwent a three-year restoration beginning in late 2014 that included rebuilding the original 4.2L inline-six and 4-speed manual transmission, as well as panel repairs, a repaint in the factory Carmen Red, and an interior refresh. Modifications made during the restoration include Wilwood brakes, an alloy radiator with an electric cooling fan, an upgraded water pump, electronic ignition, an upgraded alternator, a high-torque starter, and wider tires. This left-hand-drive XKE is now offered with records and photos from the restoration, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, tools, and a clean New Jersey title in the seller’s name.

During the restoration the monocoque tub was placed on a rotisserie, stripped to bare metal, and repainted in Carmen Red, which is listed on the Heritage Certificate as the original color. Metal repairs were conducted prior to paintwork as needed and are documented on invoices that are included with the sale.

15” chrome wire wheels feature 2-eared knock-off hubs and wear 205/70 Dunlop Signature II tires that were mounted during the restoration. According to the seller, wider tires were chosen to improve handling. E-Types feature front and rear independent suspension and disc brakes all around, with the rear brakes mounted inboard. The brake system has been updated with Wilwood components on this example. The black soft top matches the factory color.

The interior was reupholstered during the restoration in black leather, matching the original trim color. Dynamat sound deadener was installed throughout the cabin and trunk, and black wool carpets were fitted over the floors and seat backs. A Moto-Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel was also added. The factory steering wheel is also included, though the seller notes it shows wear.

Dash illumination has been updated with LED bulbs, and Smiths instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer. The 5-digit odometer shows 61k miles, 1,500 of which have been added by the seller since the restoration. A Becker Europa TR is situated in the dash for a period-correct appearance, but does not function.

The triple-carbureted 4.2-liter DOHC XK inline-six was rebuilt during the restoration with new .020” oversize 9:1 compression ratio pistons, new .010” oversize main and rod bearings, an upgraded rear main seal, and a new oil pump. The cylinder head was refreshed with new valves, guides, seals, springs, and camshaft bearings. Additional upgrades include an alloy radiator with an integrated electric fan, an upgraded water pump with a stainless steel cooling system header tank, a performance crankshaft damper, electronic ignition with a newer distributor, a gear-reduction starter, and an upgraded alternator that retains a factory look. A break-in service was completed 1,200 miles after the rebuild.

Stamping 7E-12641-9 is shown on the engine block above and matches the number listed on the Heritage Trust certificate, confirming originality. The number can also be seen stamped on the cylinder head.

A stainless steel exhaust system was added during the restoration along with ceramic-coated exhaust manifolds. The underside of the body and the wheel wells were coated with Gravel Guard prior to painting, and the control arms, brackets, and fasteners were re-plated using clear cadmium or black oxide finish.

A sample of photos taken during the restoration are shown in the gallery below, as are two sample invoices. Invoices are included with the sale, with the latter totaling approximately $120k. The Heritage Trust Certificate lists the original colors and major components, as well as build and delivery information.
