ebay Item # 2417512840 5/30/03
Sellers comment:
I am the second owner. Strong running car with 44,000 miles and is virtually all original. Bidders should recognize that this is a great looking and great driving car, but one that has not been restored.
The car is mechanically quite sound, with a strong drive train (engine, clutch, transmission, etc.). The carburetors are the standard three SUs. The wire wheels are firm and the tires have virtually no tread wear (less than 2000 miles since new in 1999). The oil pressure is 40-50 pounds at idle cold and drops to 30 pounds at 70oC (3000-3500 rpm), which all appears to be about right. It does not burn oil. As to recent work, I replaced the original puny radiator fan with a larger electric unit and installed a new generator. There is a small repair to the upper coolant reservoir. Otherwise, it is essentially original.
The car sounds and drives like the powerful roadster that it is. The suspension and steering are very tight. The dash switch for the interior light is damaged; I have the replacement but never installed it. The operational electricals (lights, wipers, fan, instruments) are all good. The battery was replaced in 2000.
The first owner had the car repainted in its original bright yellow. This is excellent for the most part; however, there is slight flaking inside the bonnet louvers. There has been a repair to the battery area - lower left panel below the bonnet, ahead of the left door. The front floor footwells were replaced on both sides because of corrosion at their lowest points. Otherwise there is no damage or rust that I can spot. You can balance either side of this car on one wheel and detect no twist or door stick. The chrome is in good state but most of the chrome-to-body gaskets are original and need to be replaced. This (and the interior vinyl, see below) are the car's weakest points.
The seats were redone in black leather a few years ago and black carpeting installed in cockpit and trunk. The steering wheel and most other interior components are original and show it - vinyl trim, as around cockpit, needs to be replaced. There is no soft-top frame; however, the car comes with its original Jaguar removable hardtop, which one does not find easily. The hardtop interior, exterior, and window are fine; the rubber seals are pretty much gone all around (new material included with spares).

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
