1968 JAGUAR E-TYPE XKE 4.2 LITER SERIES 1.5 ROADSTER. DARK BLUE WITH GREY TRIM. BLACK CLOTH TOP. EXCELLENT RESTORATION ON A TWO-OWNER, TEXAS/CALIFORNIA CAR.

Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this extremely nice and sorted Series 1.5 Roadster with some Series One upgrades and additional improvements. This car was delivered new in Texas and was sold to the current second owner in 1973 with only 33,160 actual miles, when it was only 6 years old. It has been in his care since that point, and the car has lived most of it's life here in California. In 1983, the car was featured in the movie "Terms of Endearment" starring Jack Nicholson, Shirley Maclaine, and Debra Winger. The actual movie's call sheet accompanies the sale of the car, along with a signed photograph by Jack Nicholson.
This car was driven and well maintained until July of 2006, when the car was completely disassembled for a complete and professional ground-up restoration by Jaguar specaialists "More Than Just Cars" of Upland, California.
The car's original color of Willow Green was changed to the current handsome Dark Blue, with superb body and paintwork. The car's mechanicals were rebuilt which included a complete engine rebuild with boring and new pistons, and all other new parts installed. The steering rack, differential, suspension, braking system with upgraded Wilwood calipers, transmission, cooling, and fuel systems all underwent the same careful rebuilding/restoration. The wiring harness was renewed along with all rebuilt/replaced electrical systems.
The complete interior trim, top, and boot were totally renewed with professional and correct Jaguar materials. Upgraded stainless wire wheels and tires provide a better/wider stance with modern handling. The car's chrome, rubber, windshield, exhaust system, and original hardware(nuts/bolts/washers) were all renewed/replated/rebuilt. The car was fitted with a striking, high-quality, European enclosed headlamp kit to Series One specification, along with the upgrade of an original 4.2 Liter triple HD-8 carburetor setup with manifold.
This car was a JCNA Concours winner in 2007 and was first in the SO3 class, nationally. It again scored a robust 99.48 points in JCNA in September of 2016. All of the scoring sheets accompany the sale of the car.
This car has been sparingly enjoyed with some use, and is completely "on-the-button" ready to be driven by it's next caretaker.
All of the car's documents/paperwork are present including the original window MSRP, owner's manual, manufacturer's warranty, radio operating manual, Jaguar dealer's pamphlet, period maintenance receipts from the 1970's/80's, tool roll, jack in the bag, matching black cloth top boot, spare rim and tire.
Overall, this car presents an excellent opportunity to acquire a lovely E-type Roadster in striking colors with a two-owner, known history from new.
