This 1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1.5 roadster was purchased by the seller’s father in 1991, and it is finished in white over red leather upholstery. Power is from a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and features include a black soft top, a louvered hood, four-wheel disc brakes, chrome knock-off wire wheels, and a push-button AM radio. This XKE is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of their father with a clean California title.
Series 1.5 XKEs featured exposed headlights shared with Series II cars but retained Series I features such as a small front grille opening, turn signals mounted above the front bumper, and taillights situated above the split rear bumper. This example is finished in white with a black soft top. Corrosion is visible on the left rocker panel, and dents are present on the left-front fender and ahead of the right door.
Chrome 15” knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 205/70 Ironman tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rears.
The cabin houses bucket seats trimmed in red leather accompanied by color-coordinated door panels and a black dash. A push-button AM radio is mounted in the center stack, and other amenities include a height-adjustable rear-view mirror, rocker switches for vehicle functions, a Smiths analog clock, and a locking glove box. A trim piece is missing from the left door, and stains are evident on the floor mats.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer is inoperative and shows 9k miles. True mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter inline-six features dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was factory rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission.
The car is titled using engine number 7E173259.
