Barrett-Jackson auction lot #630, Scottsdale, AZ, January 2003. Sports Car Market report reads:

"Matching body, engine and gearbox numbers. Claimed never to have been totally restored, though L30,000 refurbishment 8 years ago. Paint still good, virtually no wear to interior, engine rebuilt 3 years ago, woodrim. Michelin redlines."

This car has been documented by Jaguar Cars, Inc., as being built on May 18, 1968 and delivered to Sunnyvale, CA. The next stop was Arizona. The current meticulous owner has enjoyed this car for the past 10 years. Having covered only 54,500 miles, this Jaguar still retains its original and matching numbers engine, body and gearbox. This early series 1.5 example with 246 hp and 263 lb. ft. of torque is a great breed of E-type with the nearly identical look of the Series I, and many mechanical and comfort conveniences. This car was freshened up mechanically in the mid 90's, including rebuilt motor, all hydraulics re-sleeved with stainless, leather interior, wool carpets and a new convertible top at a cost of over $30,000.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
