    Car listed for sale 10/20/04
    www.justinbanks.com/6-Exterior.html
    Asking price £13,995

    Sellers description:
We are always happy to have E-Types in stock but especially when they are the most desirable specification. This is a 1965 genuine Right Hand Drive Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2 litre Fixed Head Coupe. The car is Dark Blue, as it left the factory. Our car is an older restoration and was resprayed in 2000. There are a couple of areas of bubbling but on the whole the appearance is very good. This car drives superbly and has been in the same ownership for many years and has recently had new wire wheels, a new stainless steel exhaust and a new radiator fitted. The car has an immobiliser and also an RAC Trackstar locater device fitted for added security. This is a very honest, solid car that has been used regularly and is a great driver. The car has spent most of its life in South Africa and is no worse for the dry climate.

    Interior:
The interior of our car was originally Red but has been changed at some time for the Black Leather interior we see now. The leather has a great patina and shows many signs of wear and tear but is not ripped or torn. The carpets are all good and the whole interior has that "Old Car" feeling. All the dials and guages work as they should and the interior has a very nice ambience.

    Exterior:
The paintwork was resprayed in 2000 so the quality is very good and the car shines wonderfully when polished. There is a little bit of bubbling at the bottom of the drivers door and I cannot see any other areas that will need attention. The tyres and wheels are nearly new and the chromework is very good. One of the front overriders has been nudged in a little and would need to be pulled out. Other than that the car presents really well, she has not been recently restored but she is not priced at that level either.

    Mechanical:
The car starts first time and the engine pulls strongly, the gearbox is very smooth and the car drives extremely well. Recently the radiator has been replaced and a new Stainless Steel exhaust system has been fitted. The car is currently Taxed and Mot'd adn has just complete a 200 mile round trip with no problems. The engine bay is not detailed however and has all the road muck you would expect from a regular driver.

    Summary:
We have had a couple of lovely E-types this year and this is no exception. If you are looking for a show car then this is not for you, if you are looking for a solid, honest car that can be driven regularly and improved gradually then you may just have found the car you have been waiting for. This is the best specification for the Fixed Heads in a great colour scheme in a really nice condition for not much more than a restoration project. There is no need to compromise on this car, everything is exactly how you would want it and she is Taxed and Mot'd and ready to go!

As with all our cars, come along and have a look and if you like her, drive her away!

Our car was first registered in the UK on 1st February 2002.
The car was previously resident in South Africa.
    The Registration Number is JGC342C
    The Chassis Number is 1E20967
    The Engine Number is 7E61429

She has an MOT until 16th June 2005
The tax disc is valid until February 2005.

There has only been one owner of the car in the UK.
The heritage certificate shows this to be a genuine RHD 4.2 FHC supplied by Henly's

I have very little history with the car, only the SA registration documents, UK V5 and some old MOTs. There is a huge amount of paperwork in the form of books, manuals and videos that also come with the car.

As with all our cars, transparency is the keyword so here are a few close up pics of the worst areas of the car, this enables you to make an informed decision.

The faults I have outlined are simply the faults I am aware of, please bear in mind you are looking at a Classic Car. You must, of course, ascertain for yourself if the car is in the condition you would like as, due to the age of the vehicle, we offer no warranty and cannot be held responsible for faults discovered after the sale.

    Additional auction info:
    JAGUAR E-TYPE SI 4.2 FHC
This example was originally supplied by Henleys Limited, London, towards the end of 1965, to its first owner in Namibia, and was repatriated by the current owner in early 2001, having been part of a small collection of cars in South Africa since 1984. The warm, dry climate ensured that the car has remained in good condition. The original red upholstery has been replaced with black leather at some stage and a repaint in the original dark blue, with attention to the bodywork, completed during 2000. Otherwise the car is of substantially ‘unmolested’ condition with good panel fit all around and a very pleasing original appearance. A Kenlowe fan has been fitted and the radiator recently replaced, and during the current ownership a stainless steel exhaust has been fitted along with a ‘Trackstar’ locating device and a new set of stainless steel spoked wire wheels with 185HR15 Dunlop sport tyres. Mechanically all is said to be good, although at the time of viewing the car could not be run as the new radiator was still to be fitted. One of the most practical, attractive and sought after of all fixed-head E-Types, this car, being of 1965 manufacture, qualifies for the majority of ‘Classic’ events. The current MOT is to be renewed before the sale and a file contains the V5, a JDHT production record trace certificate, copies of the South African title and licence documents, customs papers and sundry receipts. Estimate: £17,500 - £19,000 1965 JGC 342C 1E2097 7E6142-9 4235cc 6

Wrong chassis ID (1E2097), the correct one is 1E20967, so this is a S1 LHD 4.2L FHC, not a S1.5 4.2L OTS.
The auctioners had accidentally left out the digit "6" in the vin# number.
