The most beautiful E-type we have ever been able to offer and one of the last series 1 examples delivered on 30 June 1967!
As so often, the first examples of a model are the most beautiful. This series 1 beauty underwent a 2-year complete restoration between 2013 and 2014. No expense was spared and this is still reflected in the outstanding present-day condition 9 years later. The bodywork has been completely blasted and fitted with a new bottom plate and then painted very neatly in Gun metal anthracite. The front subframe was also completely renewed into which the engine was later fitted.
Speaking of the engine, the 4.2-litre, 6-cylinder, 265-hp power unit was completely rebuilt with the best materials by a specialist in Tynaarlo. In the process, improved oil seals were used and an oil cooler was fitted. The enlarged aluminium radiator is now equipped with two electric cooling fins which improves reliability in hot weather and it has been fitted with a reliable electronic ignition.
It currently has a Gtrag gearbox and now features 5 gears, the complete clutch has also been replaced, of course. The starter motor has also been replaced with a high-torque version.
All contemporary improvements that make the car much better to drive and do not affect anything aesthetically, but all the original parts are still good and come with the car.
The interior is genuinely like new. Everything has been renewed and there are some personalised modifications. These include a slightly thicker Moto-lita steering wheel and stainless steel bezels around all switches and gauges. We normally prefer the original but this looks really good!
Much more impressive to look at, however, it can of course be restored to the original in a very short time if necessary. The soft red leather is finished with black piping along the edges. We have not come across any examples that look better. The chrome door sills complete the look.
The finishing touches include new expensive chrome wire wheels with new classic Vredestein 185HR15 tyres and a completely new stainless steel exhaust system with a nice classic sound. The original jack has been kept with the car as has the original tool set by the spare wheel. The underside was properly treated with Tectyl immediately after restoration so that the car will still remain rust-free many years from now.
In the past 9 years, the E-type has driven around 6,000 km after restoration. An instantly usable and reliable E-type.
