2/11/04 Stephan has kindly given us the permission to include the history of his very nice car here:
* Jaguar E-Type 2+2 Series I LHD, US export
* Engine: 4,2 Litres, 6 cyl., 3x SU HD 8, 210 DIN-PS / 265 SAE-PS / 150 KW at 4.500 rpm
* Max. speed 240 km/h / 150 mph (never tried ;-)
* Opalescent Silver Blue / Interior Dark Blue leather
* Date of manufacturing: June 16, 1966.
* Matching numbers: Car 1 E 76026 / Body 4 E 51204 / Engine 7 E 50990-9 / Gear box EJ 8831.
* July 1, 1967: First license: Jaguar Cars, New York NY, USA
* July 1967 - Oct 1989: Owners unknown... more than 22 years missing in my car's history :-(
Anybody out there who met this car before?
* Oct 1989 - Aug 1995: California license 1 GVY 194, Clovis CA, USA (James Walter Okamoto).
* Aug 21, 1995: Bought the car from Henning Zaiss (J.E.C. Germany), after it was bought in CA by Olaf Becker, driven (?) and shipped from ? to Bremerhaven/Germany, then driven (?) to Wiesbaden, and to Darmstadt.
* Oct 27, 1995: First German license DA-ET 221(48,000 mls / 77.000 kms).
* Oct 1996 - April 1996: Several trips in and around Darmstadt (near Frankfurt/Main), including a one-day trip to Stuttgart (abt. 380 km / 240 mls) on country roads. Returned late & when it was snowing, in March '96 ...
* April 3, 1996: Restoration started.
* October 1997: Restoration finished (well, mostly ;-)
* December 30, 1997: New license plate DA-ET 221 H (the "H" stands for certified Historical car).
* April 1998: A runner is born again! Only a few details are not finished yet. Condition is 2+ as certified by a local classic car expert.
* September 1998: First time on the "Nuerburgring"/Nordschleife (famous German race track); one day roundtrip of 500 kms/310 mls without the slightest problem.
* Summer 1999: Had a great time ;-)
* February 23, 2001: Finally ... restoration is done, "after all these years"!!
* The rear axle has been overhauled, incl. brakes and all bearings, and the former "3.54" differential gear has been changed to a "3.07". What a difference in driving ... really smooth, less noisy, just great. The "3.07" provides a perfect driving character for a 4.2 litre 2+2, IMHO. And who cares that this $&@?ยต/% clock still does not work ... ;-)

Hello Stephan!
Great to see your car again! Too bad we didn't meet (and our cars) yet. In 1999 we drove to Basel and Fulda (the JAG rallye) and in 2002 to Holland (JDCH rallye). On our way back to Rostock from Holland we did over half an hour at 220km/h, full load, four people and luggage: no problem! Since 2003 we are no longer a 2+2 family, but 2+3, so I have bought a couple of five seater Jags (MK5 DHC, XJ6C and an XJ8 ;-) Now our E doesn't get enough attention and I am selling it. No luck so far! :-) I am glad to hear you enjoy your new rear axle. I was lucky to get an overdrive with my basket case from Freiburg in 1996. My rear axle is 3.31 as it was originally automatic and the o/d turns it into a 2.65:1 in top gear! I think also a 2.97 or something they had in XJ12's would be fine for an E. Best wishes, Pekka T. 1E76037BW for over 11 years...

I am the original owner of this car. I bought this car in Walnut Creek California in 1967. I have the original invoice still in my position for this car. I would like to turn it over to the present owner if possible.
