I saw this car at the Port Alberni Centennial celebration car show in August 2012. It was one of only a few non-North American cars at the show and it was a stunning gem! Appears to be in very nice condition and just positively glowed in the hot August sun.

This car is a Series 1 1/4, only the headlamps are different from the Series 1 model. In all respects, it's a Series 1.
I purchased this car from its original owner in April 2014 when it had 33,000 miles recorded, verifiable from detailed invoices going back to early days. The car is original except for a respray back in 1997 and some rechroming of bumpers.
The engine was completely rebuilt with all the usual E Type parts replaced / machined and is in perfect condition.
The car has been now fitted with a Broad Sport 5 speed gearbox, transforming the car's ease of high speed cruising with its original 3.54 diff ratio. Brakes have been upgraded to Zeus twin caliper piston front and slightly larger diameter rear pistons. A Double S stainless exhaust manifold and exhaust system replaced the original tired enamelled original manifold, and the cooling fan / motor replaced by a "Cool Cat" system, solving all the usual cooling problems. Electronic ignition by Pertronics and a spin on oil filter were also added.
All the usual suspension rubbers, steering rack and engine mounts, clutch cylinder, etc have been replaced.
The interior is original and undamaged, only the front seat covers and cushions have been replaced. Everything works, the instruments are perfect and the headlining is unmarked.
The car drives exceptionally well now, and has been driven by a number of E Type owners who know what it should feel like, who all agree the car is "right on the button". It is fast, quiet and water-tight in heavy rain (when unavoidable!) and cruises at illegal speeds in comfort.
I still cannot understand why the 2+2 is such a maligned "ugly duckling" as it is so much more practical than the FHC for tall drivers (I'm 6'2") and its luggage capacity for touring is much greater. And for stiff joints, the wider doors are far easier to struggle out of the car!
And besides, I would never have been able to afford a FHC which is twice the price!
Having driven both the my 2+2 and a similar age FHC, I would still choose the 2+2 however!

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
