Advertised for sale on Carsales.com.au 28th November 2014 with an asking price of AUS$75,000. Car is now in Queensland, Australia. The seller's description follows:
"............. This is a 4.2 litre car with a 4 peed manual gearbox and factory air conditioning as delivered new.
Exported to the USA in 1968, the car was taken off the road in the early 70's with approx 20,000
Miles travelled. It sat in a Kansas Barn for over 30 years before undergoing a complete restoration in 2006/7. This included bare metal restoration of the body including new three piece subframes and new period-correct beige leather interior by Original Specification Jaguar Interiors.
The mechanical restoration included triple Webber carburettors, modified camshafts, exhaust extractors, brakes and clutch systems, new wheels and period correct tyres.
I purchased this E Type in 2012 with 1675 miles on the speedometer. Receipts and photos are available supporting the restoration. The car was professionally converted to RHD, new Air Conditioning system installed and the independent rear suspension (IRS) was rebuilt with the European 3.07:1 diff ratio by Terry Lippincott Jaguar before shipping to Australia. .........I have driven the car less than 1700 miles in two years. I found out the hard way that rebuilt E Types take a lot of sorting out before you have the car it is today. The Modified Camshafts were a problem, the Webber carbs used way too much fuel for no gain over SU's unless maybe on a racetrack and the extractors didn't even begin to fit correctly. The speedo was reading 1/3 fast so it has been replaced. Since acquisition I have removed the complete drive train, rebuilt the head including valves, standard E Type cams, buckets and shims, rebuilt the gearbox with new bearings, rebuilt the tailshaft and universal joints, reconditioned both the brake and clutch master cylinders, replaced the Webbers with rebuilt SU's and reinstalled the correct factory headers, installed an MSD ignition system. In short this car is now mechanically perfect. Odometer 10532 miles.
