Ebay item 7/25/12
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1968-XKE-RARE-4-SPD-2-2-COUPE-CHROME-WIRE-WHEELS-ORIG-CA ...
Current bid $5,101 reserve not met, 4 bids 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
West Coast Classics are proud to present an extraordinarily rare and completely rust free genuine 'barn find' (garage really!) example of this coveted original southern California car and still boasting its original California black license plates 1968 Jaguar XKE E-Type Series 1.5 4 speed manual transmission 2+2 coupe with it's original matching #'s 6 cylinder 4.2L/246HP engine with the rare factory twin cooling fans and adjustable seat backs and with a black leather interior and five original Jaguar wire chrome wheels!
The car is reported to have only some 62K original miles by its previous long time owner who had stored it in his dry southern California enclosed garage. We purchased the car from its most recent southern California owner and have cleaned it up and driven it for at least a hundred miles and it certainly performs magnificently. The engine purrs like a sewing machine with no rough idles or stalling, the transmission shifts smoothly all the gears, the suspension is tight and there is no road wobbling or rattling and the temperature always remains cool - all indicative of such a low mileage car.
The floor boards and all the typical rust-prone areas are completely solid and rust-free! The car has no signs of any major accidents of any kind and has a very straight body. It's 'Signal Red' color paint is actually quite presentable but please note that the car does have some minor imperfections which could be easily rectified including a small dent on the nose of the car, some signs of over-spray from an earlier repaint in its original 'Signal Red' color and the front and rear bumpers are missing their chrome center supports. Otherwise the car remains a very fine daily driving example of this rare marque and its interior is still quite impressive and seemingly very original with lovely black leather seats and carpets and with the original door panels, headliner and dashboard all in very fine condition throughout. Please note the car also has it's original spare wheel and knock off mallet located in the trunk.

1968 JAGUAR 4.2L XKE E-TYPE "SERIES 1.5" 5 SPD MANUAL 2+2 COUPE WITH CHROME WIRE WHEELS
West Coast Classics are happy to present a rare 'barn find' (garage really!) example of this coveted originally from southern California 1968 Jaguar XKE E-Type Series 1.5 (originally a 4 speed manual transmission) 2+2 coupe with the legendary 6 cylinder 4.2L/246HP engine with the rare factory twin cooling fans and adjustable seat backs and with a black leather interior and five original Jaguar wire chrome wheels and with an upgraded 5 speed Tremec manual transmission & aftermarket installed modern rear backup camera!
The car was previously long time owned by a southern California owner who had stored it in his dry southern California enclosed garage before we purchased the car and sold it to a Texas owner back in 2012. We recently repurchased the car from its Texas owner and are selling it for the second time! The car drives well with the upgraded 5 speed Tremec manual transmission shifting smoothly all the gears.
The car is a fine daily driving example of this rare marque with some minor imperfections and TLC required but with a very presentable interior with it's seemingly original black leather seats and carpets and with the original door panels, headliner and dashboard all in very good condition throughout. Please note the car also has it's original spare wheel located in the trunk.
The car has an upgraded 5 speed Tremec manual gearbox, electronic ignition, high torque starter, new torsion bars & Koni adjustable rear shocks, aluminum radiator, AC system upgraded, rebuilt head.
This is an extremely rare opportunity for the Jaguar or British classic sports car enthusiast who is looking to buy a great and mostly all original and unmolested and rust free example of an originally southern California 1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1.5 4.2L 2+2 seater coupe with the highly desirable & upgraded 5 speed manual transmission and original chrome wire wheels!

Lot #87863
This 1968 Jaguar XKE 2+2 coupe is said to have been refurbished in California before being relocated to New York, where it was acquired by the seller 2021. The car is finished in red over black leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a replacement five-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 15” wire wheels, chrome bumpers with overriders, dual SU carburetors, air conditioning, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and an aftermarket Pioneer stereo. This Series 1.5 2+2 is now offered with workshop manuals, a vehicle inspection report, and a clean Virginia title in the owner’s name.
The body is said to have been removed from the chassis and refinished in red under prior ownership. External features include a louvered hood, uncovered headlamps, side mirrors, pop-out rear quarter windows, chrome-finished bumpers with overriders, and center-mounted dual exhaust outlets. Paint peeling and chips are noted on the rear valance, and the seller notes that there is a crack in the windshield in front of the rearview mirror.
Chrome-finished 15” knock-off wire wheels are wrapped in Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear units. A spare wire wheel is stored beneath the rear cargo floor.
The cabin features front bucket seats trimmed in black leather with a color-coordinated dash pad, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes air conditioning, a padded center armrest, and a Pioneer CD stereo with Bluetooth and satellite radio connectivity. The seller states the clock does not work. The included inspection report states the driver-side front floor pan needs attention, the trunk floor pans show signs of paint chipping, and that the air conditioning has been converted to use R134a refrigerant.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline. A clock and auxiliary gauges are mounted in the center of the dash. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 87k miles. True milage is unknown. The horn does not work.
The 4.2-liter inline-six is said to have been removed and rebuilt under previous ownership along with the dual SU carburetors. A high-output alternator has been installed, and the spark plugs are said to have been recently replaced.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement five-speed manual transmission. An aftermarket stainless steel exhaust system is installed, and the body and suspension mounts are said to have been replaced.
