Ebay item 8/21/16
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-XKE-Roadster-/282144406328
Classified ad asking $49,995, seller streetsideclassiccars, 44k miles.

Sellers description:
This car is everything you want in a 1970 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster an interesting color, great options, the original six-cylinder, and an unbeatable price.

Today you can see that on this example that remains solid with doors you can still shut with authority. But form outshines the function on this car. Even with today's modern metal practices, it is nearly impossible to duplicate the mixture of aggressive deign with gentle curves on this boutique classic. As a desirable Series II car, it comes with all those delicate touches that made it an icon the petite oval opening at the front, uninterrupted side lines, and the thin chrome bumpers that hug the body. Take some time to really look this one over because all the delicate and expensive details are complete on this one.

Beneath the black folding roof is a cool mint green and black interior that coordinates nicely with the exterior. The newer roof and seat covers give this iconic roadster a fresh feeling on the inside. And this is furthered by door panels, carpeting, center console, and a dash that present just as nicely. There's plenty of great interior features, including an AM/FM/cassette stereo and provisions for air conditioning. Besides comfort, it feels great when you grab the iconic wood-rimmed steering wheel and wood gearshift knob. Beyond this is a full set of Smiths gauges to keep you focused on those trips down the backroads.

Tilt the clamshell hood (bonnet) forward, and check out this Jag's original motor. For drivers, the Series II cars are really the ones to own. The larger 4.2 liter inline-six provides deep reserves of torque that are very friendly for U.S. roads, and the recently rebuilt dual Stromberg carburetors will keep this power delivery reliable for years to come. The suspension is an unsurpassed combination of handling and ride comfort and the E-Type benefits from the innovative independent rear suspension with inboard disc brakes for reduced unsprung weight. The dual exhaust system sounds spectacular and chrome wire wheels are genuine knock-offs with grippy Michelin tires.

You know how valuable a numbers-matching, complete XKE is worth. That's why you know how good a deal this one is, and how quick you're going to need to be to grab it. Call today!!!

Car returns to ebay 5/16/21

Opening bid US $40,000 reserve not met 0 bids 6 days left in auction, buy it now price $87,500 seller direct2uauto, 44k miles, car now said to be in Tuscola, Illinois

Seller's description:

1970, matching numbers, series II E-Type roadster. Original color, Willow Green w/black leather. Runs strong, drives smooth and tight, shifts nice, great brakes and clutch. Recent Michelin tires and top w/zip out rear window. Recent leather and Wilton wool carpet, new dash top. The body, fenders & undercarriage are solid and rust free. Older re-spray looks good. The chrome is okay not perfect but not terrible. The car was previously located in Florida. Original Phillips AM/FM radio lights when turned on, but does not make noise. The AC compressor turns free and smooth but is missing the belt, also AC lines are disconnected from condenser, so the AC is inop. The car is a pleasure to drive.

Car returns to ebay 3/1/22

www.ebay.com/itm/265572610973

Car has a buy it now price of $108,900 for 29 days, seller vintagev93, same location 44k miles.

Seller's description:

1970 Jaguar XKE, with the matching numbers 4.2, and manual 4-speed gearbox. Very presentable fit and finish, nice original colors of Willow Green over black leather interior and a recent soft top. This is a former Florida car and is a very rust free example. The odometer showing 44,315 miles is believed to be actual. Recent mechanical work includes, new Hepolite 9:1 pistons, rings, bearings, completely rebuilt head, with new ss valves, bronze valve guides, seals, seats, tappet hold down kit, rebuilt carburetors, and rebuilt distributor.

The car starts quickly and idles smoothly. The gearbox shifts smoothly and the clutch has no slip or chatter. The brakes are excellent as well. The exhaust is excellent with stainless steel mufflers and beautiful resonators.

This car was equipped with air conditioning, however, the AC lines were deteriorated. The compressor turns as it should, but was removed when the mechanical work was done, and was not installed. The compressor comes with the car, but will need to be installed along with new AC lines. The bumpers are original and although they are presentable, they have not been re-chromed. The original choke cables, work perfectly, but their outer casings are beginning to crack and show age.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
