This 1970 Jaguar XKE is an opalescent blue-over-beige Series II roadster that was refurbished under previous ownership and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes a navy blue soft top and top boot, a rear luggage rack, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a Philips push-button radio, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ chrome wire wheels, Spax shocks, dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, and chrome bumpers with overriders. This XKE Roadster was acquired by the current owner in 2011 and is offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a clean Minnesota title in the owner’s name.
The car was reportedly disassembled, placed in a rotisserie, and refinished in opalescent blue under previous ownership in 2008. Features include a navy blue mohair soft top and top boot, a rear luggage rack, a louvered hood, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The paint is chipped in the driver-side door jamb and additional blemishes are visible.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels wear Jaguar-branded knock-offs and are mounted with 205/70 Michelin Symmetry redline tires with 2006 production date codes. Spax Krypton shocks are installed, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with Goodrich stainless steel brake lines.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in beige leather with perforated inserts joined by a matching center console and door panels. Equipment includes a Philips push-button AM/FM/SW radio, an analog clock, a cabin heater, hand-crank windows, and rubber floor mats.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer. Auxiliary gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level are mounted in the center of the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 61k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was rated at 240 horsepower when new and features dual overhead camshafts and dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
