Advertised for sale on Carsales.com.au on 27 March 2020 with asking price of AU$279,900. Vehicle is located in Adelaide. Seller’s description follows:
“This matching numbers example was imported from the UK and was found to have some corrosion.
However, the current owner has spent a small fortune making this probably the best FHC E Type in Australia.
It all started with a nil accident damage vehicle, which has then had the whole floor and outer and inner sills replaced with new parts. New doors with new door window glass as well as new front windscreen have been fitted. The rear window was found to be good enough and is original.
Most of the suspension is brand new top to bottom and front to back.
All brand new interior trim and carpets were supplied and fitted by well respected Adelaide trimmer, Allan Smith Vehicle Trimming of Kilkenny.
The original engine at the time of the rebuild was keeping such good oil pressure, it was refurbished but not rebuilt. All the wiring was replaced with an original Jaguar wiring loom. Carburettors were completely rebuilt using all new parts. The ID plate has been replaced near the scuttle, however the owner has the original one, proving its matching numbers claim.
The gearbox was checked by Adelaide Differential & Gearbox Specialists of Marion Rd Adelaide.
The great bulk of this work was done by an Adelaide Jaguar specialist who knows Jaguars as well as anybody. He is happy to talk to any prospective buyer regarding the rebuild.
The current owner commissioned this rebuild and was careful enough to take a photograph of every stage of the process, so nearly 1000 photos are available to attest to its rebirth”.
