Car to be at auction 5/11
www.historics.co.uk/buying/online-catalogue/jaguar-e-type-sii.aspx

Auction description:
Auction Date: 18 May 2011
Lot 236 - 1970 Jaguar E-Type Series II Fixedhead Coupé
Registration: BYW977H
Chassis Number: 1R20721
Engine Number: tbc
Odometer reading: 105,000
Estimate: £18,000-£23,000

This particular example was purchased in 1989 and has been in the same family since. It has been used on a regular basis and clearly was acquired with the intention of enjoying is performance characteristics. Whilst the paintwork could do with a little freshening up, this is an opportunity to purchase an classic British icon and celebrate 50 years of the Jaguar E-Type. The servicing and general upkeep of this vehicle has been carried out by Westlake Motors and in more recent times TS Cars & Son. There is a comprehensive file of receipts, as one would expect for a car that has been owned within the same family for such a long time. Supplied with a V5 document and a current MoT test certificate, this represent good value for money and an exciting entree into classic car ownership.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
