This 1969 Jaguar XKE is a Series II coupe that was built on August 21, 1969 and dispatched to the US the following September. The car was imported to Canada in 2011 and refurbished under previous ownership with a repaint in silver as well as a replacement 4.2-liter inline-six, which is mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox. Approximately 1,000 miles have reportedly been added since the work was completed, 500 of which were driven by the seller since acquiring the car last year. This XKE is offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, several refurbishment photos, spare parts, and Ontario registration in the seller’s name.

Originally finished in Pale Primrose Yellow, the body was repainted in its current silver approximately seven years ago. The finish, lenses, and brightwork are shown up close in the gallery below along with imperfections including chips and cracks around the hood and passenger door.

Chrome 15” wire wheels are equipped with earless spinner nuts and Pirelli P400 tires.

The stock black interior has been replaced with red upholstery and carpets, and an aftermarket stereo has been installed. A wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation which includes a 160-mph speedometer and a 5-digit odometer that indicates just over 59k miles. Total mileage is unknown. The dash-mounted clock is inoperable according to the seller.

Under the front-hinged hood is a replacement 4.2-liter inline-six that was reportedly rebuilt by Hewitt Automotive Machine of Brockville, Ontario in 2012, though supporting records are unavailable. Triple Webers with trumpet intakes have replaced the stock SU carburetors and air cleaners, which are included in the sale. A recent warm compression test reportedly showed between 142 and 147 psi across all six cylinders.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. An oil and lube service was personally performed by the seller. Additional underbody photos are viewable below.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate confirms the original colors as well as the factory chassis, engine, and body numbers.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
