This 1969 Jaguar XKE 2+2 is finished in green over tan leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a replacement three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes 15″ wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, an aluminum radiator, a stainless steel exhaust system, electronic ignition, and a cassette stereo. The car was reportedly acquired by the seller in 2011, and subsequent service is said to have involved overhauling the steering and suspension systems, refreshing the engine, servicing the transmission, and replacement of the alternator, cooling fan, water pump, heater core, exhaust headers, fuel pumps, and brake components. This Series II 2+2 is offered with manuals, related publications, car show awards, and New Hampshire registration in the seller’s name.

The car was refinished in green during previous ownership, at which time a replacement hatch door from a later-model E-Type was installed. Exterior features include chrome-finished bumpers and trim, a louvered hood, a driver-side mirror, and a stainless steel exhaust system with dual outlets. Imperfections are visible on various body panels.

Chrome-finished 15″ wheels wear 205/70 Firestone FR710 whitewall tires. Work performed by the seller is said to have included overhauling the steering rack, installing flexible stainless steel brake lines, and replacement of the shocks, front wheel bearings, tie rod ends, ball joints, suspension bushings, brake master cylinder, vacuum lines, and brake pads.

The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in tan leather with matching replacement door panels and wool carpets. Dynamat sound deadening is present beneath the carpeting, and equipment includes a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a Panasonic cassette stereo, and a replacement center console sourced from a Series I E-Type. Work carried out during current ownership is said to have included replacement of the dashboard top pad, ignition key barrel, brake light switch, front seat cushions and covers, seat belts, and chrome-finished door handles.

Instrumentation consists of a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 63k miles, 10k of which were added by the seller.

The 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with an electronic ignition system as well as dual Stromberg carburetors that were reportedly overhauled and tuned within the last 10k miles. Additional maintenance carried out by the seller reportedly included regrinding the camshafts, installing a fuel pressure regulator, and replacement of the main bearings, camshaft bearings, timing chains and tensioners, engine mounts, exhaust headers, alternator, water pump, thermostat, heater core, and fuel pumps. An aluminum radiator with an electronic cooling fan has been installed.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement Borg Warner 8 three-speed automatic transmission that was reportedly sourced from an E-Type. Work performed by the seller is said to have included patching the rear floor, changing the transmission fluid and filter, calibrating the transmission bands, and replacement of the vacuum module and mounts.

Manuals and related publications are included in the sale, and various car show awards are pictured below. The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being sold on its registration.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
