Current bid $26,600, no reserve, 5 bids 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1974 Jaguar E-Type OTS Convertible has the original V-12 Jaguar engine. The current odometer reading is 24,988 and I believe it to be accurate. I bought this car in 1998. The car was originally a California car and has always been in the Southwestern United States. It has been garage kept and covered since I purchased it. The car is complete.

The car is not currently running. A few years ago, a float stuck in a carburetor on the passenger side of the engine. A friend, experienced in Jaguar repair, assisted me in the removal and rebuild of the carburetors on the passenger side. He reinstalled the carburetors but moved away before the job was completed and the carburetors rebalanced. Consequently, the new owner will have to finish the carburetor installation work.

With some minor work, this could be a nice daily driver, or a show queen after a more extensive refresh restoration.

Condition:
Body
There are no dents to speak of. As far as rust goes, there is some minor scaling inside the trunk, where it appears some water leaked years ago. The jacking points are solid. I have had the interior door panels off, and the insides of the doors are clear. The wheel wells are clear. There is some surface scale in the spare tire well, near the drain hole. The lower air intake scoop, below the grill is damaged from parking curbs and will need to be repaired or replaced. This is a common repair and a separate part is available.

I do not have a history of any rust or body repair work that may have been completed in the past.

Paint
I would rate the paint as about an 8 - about a 5-footer. The car is very presentable how it is. The paint is obviously an older overspray with some minor imperfections. It is shiny and looks nice. There are rock chips on the front bonnet, and paint chips particularly along edges by the doors. You might get away with a little touchup work and another overspray to make the car more presentable. I believe the car was original Sable color and a previous owner changed the color to black. The black looks nice with the bumper overriders required on '74 cars.

Interior
The carpet, dashboard, and interior is in decent shape for its age. a piece of the crash roll trim on the driver's side windscreen pillar has fallen off (the piece is included).

The piping on the driver's seat is frayed. Also, the seat back adjustment ratcheting mechanisms are a bit finicky and require repair or replacement. I believe the seats were dyed at some point and have faded a bit. I had a set of custom black sheepskin covers made that I have kept on the seats most of the time I've owned it. (Note: the pictures are over exposed and show the seats and interior lighter than they are).

Chrome
I would rate the chrome as about a 9. All of the trim is present. There is no pitting to speak of. The headlight surrounds look good.

Lights
All of the lights look good and work.

Rubber Trim
The trim rubber around the windows, lights and bumpers are in good condition.

Wheels and Tires
The tires look good, but are old and should be replaced. The car does come equipped with optional wire wheels all the way around, including the spare. The wheels and hubs appear to be in solid, nice shape.

Glass
The glass is in good shape, though the windscreen is a bit fogged from age.

Engine and Mechanicals
The passenger side carburetor and air cleaner install needs to be completed and the carburetors need to be rebalanced. All parts are included. The engine ran strong and was reliable previously. No reason to assume it won't be again.

Air Conditioning
The car is equipped with rare factory air conditioning. The air conditioning system is complete and has worked. I have not tested it recently, so I would assume it is not working. Air conditioning was never particularly strong in these anyway.

Soft top
The soft top and cover are in nice condition. The rear window is clear with no marks. I never really ever used the soft top.

Hard top
This car comes equipped with the rare factory hardtop. The hard top is complete and in nice condition. The edges of the interior and rubber trim have some damage from when the top was stored separately from the car.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
