*Number 14 of a final limited edition of 50 V12 Roadsters
*One of only 19 manual transmission cars
*Delivered new in the UK
*Two owners from new (present owner since 1977)
*Circa 28,000 miles from new

The rare and exclusive E-Type offered here is one of 50 special V12 roadsters built to commemorate the end of the model's production in 1974. The chassis number sequence commenced at '2822' and ended with '2872', all bar one of the 50 cars being finished in black. Its accompanying Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate reveals that this E-Type was distributed by Henlys and sold via H R Owen, London. The original registration was 'XYE 535N'.

First registered on 27th October 1975 to one W H Joodall, chassis number '1S2835' is one of only 19 manual transmission cars in this series. In April 1977 (at 3,000 miles), the car passed to current (second) owner and has remained in the same ownership in Germany for the last 41 years. Presented in accident-free, un-restored, and outstandingly original condition this most collectible of V12 E-Types is offered with a German Fahrzeugbrief.

Lot 8720 at the Collecting Cars on line Classic Car sale on 8 March 2022. Sold for £167,505. Abbreviated seller's description below.

www.collectingcars.com/for-sale/1974-jaguar-e-type-series-3-v12-roadster-2

  • This E Type roadster is a rare and sought after Commemorative Edition, one of just 19 cars equipped with manual transmission.
  • Under the bonnet is the 275bhp 5.3 litre V12, which drives the rear wheels through a four speed manual gearbox.
  • This car is an original UK delivered example acquired by a collector from Germany in 1977 who kept it for the next 41 years. It was then acquired by the current owner, only the third keeper from new.
  • The odometer shows just 27,789 miles.
  • The car is finished in Black with Black upholstery and features a brass plaque on the dashboard confirming it is one of 50 Commemorative Edition cars.
  • The previous German owner made minor custom changes including plating the air horns, Stromberg carburettors and manifold.
  • Accompanying the car is the Production Jaguar Heritage certificate, German Fahrzeugbrief and UK V5C.
  • The black paintwork is in excellent condition and the black leather upholstery shows only sparing use. There is no accident damage, the car remains original and unrestored.
  • The most recent MoT was on 22 July 2021 at 27,760 miles. It failed due to deteriorated suspension and track rod ball joint dust covers, and an ineffective windscreen washer function, otherwise there are no electrical or mechanical issues.
  • This Commemorative Edition is an elegant classic sports car, one of 19 manual transmission specification cars with particularly low mileage and given cherished ownership by just three keepers from new.

Note: The original registration number, XYE535N, given on the heritage certificate is incorrect and the car was issued witha new registration number, VMR484M in 2019.
