On offer here is a V12 E Type coupe with the more desirable manual gearbox. The always right-hand drive fixed head, which first left the Browns Lane works in 1973, was stored by the first owner in 1984 (as confirmed by the last tax disc) with 58,160 miles displayed on the odometer.
More recently, the now 2-owner car has been carefully restored, preserving as much originality as possible. Indeed, although the headlining has been renewed, the rest of the black interior is still original. The original radio and tool kit have also been retained, even the manufacturer-supplied spare key still being attached to the bulkhead under the bonnet.
Mechanically, the car has been completely overhauled, parts being replaced where necessary, such as the brake discs and exhaust system, the latter now being in stainless steel. The current oil pressure is claimed to be 70psi.
Bodily, the shell has been taken back to bare metal. Any damaged or rusted panels were replaced with new items, including the fitting of a new bonnet section, and all seams have been correctly lead-loaded. The red paintwork is in period correct cellulose and has had 24 coats applied. 80 per cent of the chromework has been renewed. The steel wheels are the originals.
The overall condition of this RHD manual-shift V12 fixed head E Type in the most popular of all colour combinations is said to be A1.

Overview
Finished in red with black leather upholstery, this particular example is variously described by the vendor as being in "all good" (electrical equipment, wheels / tyres), "original / excellent" (interior trim), "excellent" (5343cc engine, four-speed manual gearbox, chassis) or "superb" (bodywork, paintwork) condition. Said to have had just three owners - the first of whom dry stored it from 1984 until earlier this decade - 'ORW 444M' is believed but not warranted to have covered a mere 58,223 miles from new. Once out of hibernation, the Jaguar was reportedly stripped to a bare shell and fitted with new panels as necessary (including a bonnet) before being treated to lead-loaded seams, twenty-four coats of cellulose paint, eighty percent renewed chromework and a replacement headlining. Mechanically overhauled at the same time, it gained a stainless steel exhaust and fresh brake discs etc but retained its original steel wheels, leather upholstery, radio, toolkit and spare key. Apparently little used during the current ownership and kept in an air chamber, more recent work has nevertheless seen the car benefit from a "new fuel pump relay, battery and small service". Boasting an interesting history, this desirable manual V12 E-type is offered for sale with sundry receipts, old MOT certificate (2003), tax disc (1984) and parts catalogue. PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle does not have an MOT.

This is a matching numbers V12‑powered Series III E‑type, according to the vendor. Registered in August 1973, its first owner had it from 1973 to 1999. It has since passed through a further four custodians, including the vendor.

The car was restored in 2003, after having been stored for 15 years. The colour was changed from white to the current Signal Red at the same time. Although, as an historic vehicle, there is no need for the Jaguar to be annually tested, the E‑type has a current MoT, valid until May 2023. The current mileage indicated by the odometer is 74,664 miles.

As a 19-year-old restoration, the paint does now have some imperfections; mainly swirl marks from polishing, although there are other areas of cracking and spots that have been touched-up. However, overall, the car presents well inside and out.

There's a very extensive and well-organised paperwork file that includes the current and past V5C, owner's manual, and a generic service booklet that shows regular servicing - with nine stamps - from 62,628 miles in July 2013 through to June 2021 at 74,319 miles. There's also catalogues from SC Parts and SNG Barratt, Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust production record trace certificate and a very large stack of bills back to the restoration in 2003, testifying to lots of care and money spent. The MoT certificates date back to the same period too. An original lubrication chart and sales brochures complete the file - although there is, perhaps a little bizarrely, a transfer sheet of bullet holes too. A spare set of keys comes with the car, as does some Signal Red touch-up paint.
