I never changed the coolant for the 20 some years I had the car and the coolant turned acidic and ate into the engine. The engine is out and pretty much apart. Otherwise the car is in mechanically good condition. The automatic transmission, rear end, and other mechanical parts are in good working order except the airconditioner. Please note that the body is in good condition but has been left outside uncovered since December and the paint has oxidized. The pictures are representative of what the car looked like before the engine problem. The cost to rebuild the engine is prohibitive and so should be considered a parts car.

Note; the above car is suspect, probably a misread of the data plate by the seller however there is no means to verify what was listed in '06, the VIN was provided in the description of the ebay listing and obviously no photos of the VIN. Based on the description for the following listing that clearly lists the VIN and history its unlikely this and the above car are the same but leaving the information for posterity.

This 1971 Jaguar E-Type Series III 2+2 coupe is offered by its original owner who has cherished the car for 50 years. Unrestored and said to still wear its factory-applied finish, this unrestored Jaguar was purchased new by the seller in 1971 at E. Koeppel Pontiac of Jamaica, New York. The odometer currently displays 61,351 miles, which the seller affirms to be original and correct. As an all-original, single-owner car, the pedigree of this classic is undisputed and extraordinarily uncommon today.
The British Racing Green paint is stated by the seller to be original and retains a moderate gloss with chips noted on the leading edge of the louvered hood. The exterior lighting and glass are said to be original and in good condition and all chrome appears bright. The factory weather seals are noted to be leak free and pliable. The seller assures all potential buyers that no rust repairs have ever been necessary, and the car has been continuously garaged since new.
INTERIOR
The Biscuit (tan) leather interior is noted to be original, complete, and intact, with a well-developed patina on the seating surfaces. All carpeted and interior surfaces appear well preserved. The headliner backer board is sagging, though the wool covering is still bonded. All gauges and switchgear appear to be well preserved and have been observed by the seller to function properly and accurately. The factory air conditioning is said to produce “ice cold” air output, and the heat is also said to work properly. The factory radio is stated to be functioning correctly, too. In the trunk, the full-size spare is well preserved, and the original knock-off hammer and jack are included.
POWERTRAIN
This 1971 Jaguar Series III E-Type is powered by a 5.3-liter, all-aluminum, SOHC Jaguar V-12 coupled to a three-speed Borg-Warner M12 automatic transmission. The seller affirms that the engine is original to the car. He adds that the engine starts quickly with a puff of light smoke and then settles into a smooth idle. Equipped with four Zenith-Stromberg carburetors fueling three cylinders each, this race-proven engine was factory rated at 272 horsepower (314 hp, SAE gross) at 5,850 RPM and 304 lb-ft of torque (349 lb-ft, SAE gross) at 3,600 RPM. The exhaust and ignition are stated to be the only non-original parts. The Borg-Warner three-speed automatic transmission is listed as original and is noted to shift smoothly. An oil weep is visible below the transmission. All 1971 E-Type Series III models were equipped with a limited-slip rear differential with 3.54:1 final-drive ratio.
CHASSIS
The fully independent suspension, with A-arms and torsion bars in the front and lower A-arms with coil springs and an anti-roll bar in the ear, is described as all original and in good working order. The seller adds that there are no leaks evident from the shocks nor cracking evident in the suspension bushings. The power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering is stated to function normally and track straight, with minimal play. According to the seller, the power-assisted, four-wheel-disc brakes are powerful and exhibit no unusual behaviors. The front brake calipers were reportedly re-lined with brass some years ago. The chrome knock-off wire wheels are stated to be original and in good condition. The 205/70R15 Goodyear Double Eagle tires radial tires appear to have full tread, though their exact age is not known.
DOCUMENTATION
This vehicle will be sold on a transferable New York State registration in the seller’s name. New York State does not issue titles for vehicles which are 1972 or older. The seller will include the following documentation: a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, the original purchase paperwork, service manuals, and service records. Two sets of keys will also be included.
As the final evolution of the model line, this 1971 Jaguar E-Type Series III 2+2 coupe is one of just 3,406 produced that year. The unmistakable design and the beautifully engineered V-12 engine in the Series III E-Type still inspires to this day.
