Factory A/C car like so many of that era. Ascetically restored to a very high level over 2.5 years by Muncie Imports in Indiana to the new owners color preference.

This 1971 Jaguar XKE is a Series II Roadster that was built on September 2, 1970 and underwent a bare-metal refurbishment that commenced in the 1980s and was completed in 2019. The car is powered by a numbers-matching 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in red with a tan soft top over Biscuit leather upholstery. Additional features include air conditioning, power-assisted steering, four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rears, and polished 15” knock-off wire wheels. This Series II XKE is being offered by the selling dealer at no reserve with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, documentation and photos from the refurbishment, and a clean Illinois title.

Finished from the factory in Cream, the body was stripped to bare metal, fitted with replacement floor panels and rockers, and repainted its current shade of Signal Red by Muncie Imports and Classics of Muncie, Indiana in 2018. The trim, bumpers, and sidemarkers have been replaced, and a tan soft top has been installed along with clear paint protection film on the front of the car.

Polished 15” wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off spinners and mounted with 185-width Coker Classic redline tires. The servo-assisted four-wheel discs feature inboard-mounted rears and were overhauled during the refurbishment. The shocks, ball joints, and suspension bushings were replaced during the refurbishment. A full-size spare is found in the trunk.

The cabin was trimmed in black from the factory and has since been reupholstered in Biscuit leather with matching door panels, carpets, and a black dashboard. The window hardware and regulators have been replaced, and equipment includes lap belts for both occupants, rocker switches for vehicle functions, an analog clock, power-assisted steering, and air conditioning that has been fitted with an upgraded compressor.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation that includes a 6k-rpm tachometer, a 160-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 74k miles, around 200 of which have been added by the selling dealer.

The 4.2-liter inline-six was overhauled and features an aluminum radiator as well as dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors. The seller notes that the wiring harness has been replaced.

Engine block stamping 7R 14497 is shown above and matches the number displayed on the Heritage Trust certificate.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. A stainless-steel dual exhaust system has been installed.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate shows a completion date of September 2, 1970 along with the factory colors and identification numbers.

Photos of the car taken during various stages of the refurbishment along with a log of work completed and various parts receipts from 2018-2019 come with the car.
