Ebay item 10/21/05

Opening bid $12,000.00 (Reserve not met), no bids yet, 6 days left in auction. Complete VIN on this car is J712R28503. 36k miles.

Sellers description:
This particular 1971 Jaguar Series II E-Type, has two, limited addtion features, the first limited enhancement, is factory air conditioning (Delco GM). The second is special, factory engine heads, which produce a compression ratio of 9:1, over and above a typical 8:1 ratio for the same! Mechanically, this car is considered 95% restored, supported by $15K in reciepts, for which most are recent and the latest is for a $6K stock engine rebuild, with less than 1000 miles to date! The 5% mechanical repair balance, recently priced at less than $2K. Cosmetically, both interior and exterior components are in tact, however, to achieve showroom condition, leather, rubber and vinyl should be replaced. All of which have been located, priced, therefore, easy to get items, including stainless steel floor boards, estimated cost is $4K for all. Add a nice paint job, even though it's in fair condtion currently, this would be a requirement to put the car in showroom condition, also worth while based on current market demand supporting a monumental return on investment. All the above, describe the final chapter in original plans to achieve 100% complete restoration. Unfortunatley, due to personal financial contraint and need, forced a very dramatic decision to sell this very fine automobile, especially after owning it 26+ years to date! This car was origially purchased in Santa Barbara, CA, was also the same location found and purchased at age 7, only having 24,000 original miles and tire tools still wrapped in original, factory protective casmoline! A rare find for it's current enthusiast/owner then, strongley represents the same, lucky rare find now, especially based on above forced circumstance!

Lot #116757

This 1971 Jaguar XKE is a Series II coupe that is finished in silver over black leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 15″ wire wheels, dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, a stainless steel exhaust system, four-wheel disc brakes, a louvered hood, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a Sony CD stereo. The splined hubs and front brakes were replaced in October 2022, and an oil change was performed in preparation for the sale. This E-Type Series II was acquired by the seller in January 2023 and is now offered with recent service records and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in silver, and exterior details include a louvered hood, a left-side mirror, pop-out rear quarter windows, chrome-finished bumpers with overriders, and dual exhaust outlets. Jaguar badges have been added to the bottom of the lower clamshell hood, and a dent is noted on the left lower edge of the hood.

The 15″ wire-spoke wheels wear 205/70 Yokohama A-321VR tires, and a spare is mounted in the trunk. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear units. The front brake discs and pads were replaced in October 2022 along with the splined hubs.

The seats are trimmed in black leather upholstery with a color-coordinated dashboard, carpets, and door panels. Amenities include a heater, an analog clock, and a Sony CD stereo with matching speakers. The air conditioning system is inoperable.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline, while auxiliary gauges located centrally on the dashboard display battery voltage, oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 40k miles, around 100 of which have been added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six features dual overhead camshafts and is equipped with twin Zenith-Stromberg carburetors. According to the seller, the starter has been replaced. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
