I purchased this car from the E-Type Center in 1995 (five known previous owners in the north of England) and imported it driving myself to Switzerland (45185 genuine miles on the clock). the car has an unbroken history and the original British number plate, carries mainly the original paint, the pumpkin-colored cylinder head, the period Radiomobile radio, the original saloon type tool kit, the bottle-type jack, the old running in sticker and original soft top hood cover. The car is basically unrestored, carreis the original interior and upholterys, but had to be mechanically brought in shape (engine rebuild, rear axle, breaking system, fuel system, cooling system). The Swiss police registration number is AG 67458. The car is used in local and European fun rallies and runs. It is one of the last known unrestored early E-Types and shows a dignified age.

The car a very original and unrestored. In very good shape although the door skins have been replaced to a poor standard and the paint if multi coloured.

A difficult car to restore as it will loose all the originality that makes it so special.

Original bonnet, engine frames have never been painted. All the rare early parts are still fitted to the car.

The April 1961 build date shown for this car seems too early and must be in error. Other cars in this chassis sequence appear to be built a couple of months later, and while motor and body numbers jumped around some, the chassis numbers were pretty much in chronological order. The motor and body numbers are also quite a bit later than for any E-types built in April.

Complete with outside bonnet catches, flat floors, RS5 tyres on matching painted wire wheels. Completely original including paintwork bodywork, interior and duck hood. Carmen red with red leather. Fully documented history, original log book, handbook and tool kit. 3 owners. My property since May 1975. Virtually unused since hence reason for selling. £8,500. Tel 0524 64128'

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
