For sale at Toro Sports Cars of Fleet for £149,995. Seller's description below.
    www.torosportscars.com/cars-for-sale/jaguar-e-type-s1-38-flat-floor-roadster

1961, finished in the stunning combination of Opalescent Silver Grey with Red interior. This very early UK RHD with matching numbers E Type roadster was built in November 1961 and is chassis number 262, confirmed by the buff log book and heritage certificate that is supplied with the car. The former keeper of this 3.8 flat floor purchased the car 26 years ago in 1993 from the E Type Centre, freshly restored and showing a mileage of 82,000.

The car has been used sparingly since, otherwise it is in a Carcoon and shows a mileage of 85,000. Maintained by JD Classics the car was treated to some minor upgrades just 500 miles ago; JD Sport handbrake, JD Sport uprated callipers, JD Sport fuel pump and JD Sport ignition system. Still absolutely stunning presenting the perfect blend between usability and condition.

Just looked at this, the standard of restoration on this car's bodywork leaves an awful lot to be desired! Its colour doesn't match its Heritage certificate.

1961 Jaguar E type Series 1 Flat Floor Roadster

    Chassis number: 850262

    Engine number: R 2557-9

    Registration number: 370CYT

An early production flat floor car being the 262nd produced. This car had a nut & bolt restoration in the early 1990's when it was purchased & kept for 25 years by no lesser person than the Managing director of Jaguar cars. He was responsible for keeping the car regularly waxoyl'd & also re-uniting the car with its original number plate 379CYT which it wears to this day.

Minor modifications include fitting a brake servo, a new bonnet during restoration & conversion to run on unleaded fuel. The car started life in Opalescent Bronze & was restored in Metallic Gunmetal Grey. The interior is of red leather in fine order with matching carpets as when new.

This is a car that has never in recent years seen rain & has been used sparingly for high days & holidays. The current owner like the last owner keeps the car in an air conditioned car cocoon when not in use.

Assorted large bills from JD classics come with the car which previously was restored by The E Type Centre. The car has covered 85,657 miles since new. It sits on chrome wire wheels held on with knock off spinners & is shod with 4 good tyres.

The restoration has held up very well with the car being in fine condition throughout with no rust at all. This is a car with a very very light patina of use rather than being a concours garage queen making it a very useable car. Indeed it has successfully precipitated in a number of rallies & events in recent years. It starts instantly & drives exactly as an early E Type should with the exception of the brakes which are far more effective than when the car left Browns Lane.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
