Car was offered at auction 6/05

Auction description:
BBC 856B was manufactured in 1964 making it one of the very last Series Ones to be fitted with the glorious 3781cc XK engine that was derived from the unit which powered so many Le Mans winners. In recent years the car has had a comprehensive restoration to a very high standard to original specifications but with very subtle performance modifications such as slightly wider competition rims, which have been chrome plated and fitted with Avon Turbospeed tyres, the vastly superior all synchro gearbox, slightly stiffer shock absorbers, larger brake calipers by Coopercraft, aluminium steering rack mountings, lightweight E type competition exhaust system and numerous other goodies. In fact, a wolf in sheeps clothing. This magnificent E-type, finished in the attractive period colour scheme of Opalescent Golden Sand with Pumpkin leather upholstery, is described by the vendor as in excellent overall condition. It is supplied with a current MoT certificate valid until May 2006 and V5 certificate. With this timeless classic, the ultimate expression of 1960's chic, now in its 40th year there can be few finer examples with which to enjoy one of the world's most instantly recognisable sportscars.

BBC856B used to belong to my grandfather in the 80s when it was red. We've just come across what looks to be the original number plate in the shed. Looks like its still on the road today! Last ownership transfer was in 2016. Would love to see this motor in the metal.
