875027 is the third of "Cunninghams Three," the other two being 875015 and 875026. It, along with 875015 and 875026, were delivered to Cunningham as a group. It was built as a standard steel production car on April 24, 1961 and originally registered 9023 DU in the UK. Jaguar factory records indicate it as a "demo." The car was heavily modified toward light-weight "E" specs. It was fitted with a 'D' type wide-angle cylinder head, and many body panels were aluminium, including the hood, hardtop and trunk-lid. It was reportedly fitted with an iron block, wide-angle head, Weber carburetors (now updated), aluminium headlight covers. the thick lower windshield chrome strip, Jaguar competition wire wheels an auxiliary gastank over the rear axle, a brake vent in the rear license-plate nacelle, a radiator blind (similar to those found on lightweights, and MK IX front brakes. In 1973 the car was described as having been fitted with a ZF gearbox (although this is now felt to be incorrect). to have been repainted. and to have had "some engine work." The car has been reported as having an extensive racing, history in the 1962-1963 period, Including Daytona in February 1962, and possibly in the April 1962 at "Le Mans test days In 1973 the car was for sale from Colorado. Around 1974 it was returned to UK, where it was sold to an owner who had it for about 15 years. Between 1988 and 1993 it changed hands at least three times, but apparently remained in the UK In 1993 this car was described by Paul Skilleter as "surely one of the most original, early-sixties racing-spec. The hood is also blue.

I saw the car not long ago and she is totally original still. Hard top with running lights on, old style filler cap, alloy bonnet, extra instruments on dashboard - in fact exactly as she raced 56 years ago. Nicknamed "The Heavyweight" due to the steel body.
