Footnotes
'Here we have one of the quietest and most flexible cars on the market, capable of whispering along in top gear at 10mph or leaping into its 150mph stride on the brief depression of a pedal. A practical touring car, this, with its wide doors and capacious luggage space, yet it has a sheer beauty of line which easily beats the Italians at their own particular game.' – John Bolster, Autosport.
Its gorgeous appearance notwithstanding, the Jaguar E-Type could feel a little cramped if you were a taller driver, a criticism addressed by the introduction of foot wells (and other, more minor modifications) early in 1962. But of all the versions of Jaguar's long-lived and much-loved sports car, it is the very early 'flat floor' 3.8-litre cars built prior to February 1962 which, for many enthusiasts, remain the most desirable.
Completed on 26th September 1961, this freshly restored example is one of the earliest surviving left-hand drive E-Type roadsters (the chassis number sequence commenced at '875001') and was delivered new to Messrs Fendler & Luedemann in Hamburg, Germany. This is a flat floor car and with the very early 'welded bonnet louvers' feature and today finished in the most desirable colour combination of Jaguar Opalescent Silver Grey with blue leather trim and matching mohair hood. The accompanying Jaguar Heritage Certificate records the original matching engine and gearbox numbers, which are also confirmed by the factory original body and chassis plates.
Between March 2015 and September 2018, this car was fully restored to original factory specification based on original parts from SNG Barratts and Jagshop London. The vendor states this E-Type was recently restored by expert UK Jaguar specialists including ex-CMC staff and trim by Suffolk and Turley and is presented in concours condition. Representing a wonderful opportunity to own the most desirable of all E-Types, '875607' comes with sundry restoration and parts invoices; a UK V5C registration document; and the aforementioned Jaguar Heritage Certificate
