This 1964 Jaguar XKE Series I roadster received a mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment circa 1996 and was acquired by the seller in 2014. Work included repainting the body, overhauling the engine, transmission, differential, and suspension, and refreshing the interior. The car is finished in red over tan leather and powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes triple SU carburetors, chrome bumpers, 15” wire wheels, a black soft top, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. This XKE roadster is now offered with service and refurbishment records, manufacturer’s literature, a Jaguar Vehicle Information Record, a black top boot, a front license plate bracket, a tool roll, a jack, a knockoff hammer, spare leather interior trim pieces, copies of 2003 Hemmings calendars featuring the car, and a Connecticut registration in the seller’s name.
The car was originally finished in Sand and was repainted in red during the refurbishment. Equipment includes a replacement black soft top, chrome bumpers, headlight covers, a louvered hood, and a stainless steel exhaust system with central outlets.
Chrome 15” wire wheels feature two-eared knockoffs and are mounted with 185-series Dunlop SP Sport tires. A matching spare is stored in the trunk. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. The suspension was overhauled during previous ownership.
The cabin was refurbished under previous ownership and is trimmed in tan leather with matching carpets and a black dash pad. Features include bucket seats, lap belts, a passenger grab handle, and a storage cubby.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline. Center-mounted instruments include gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, amperage, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 72k miles, though total mileage is unknown. The gauges were reportedly refurbished during prior ownership. The seller states that the car has been driven approximately 40 miles since the refurbishment.
The 3.8L twin-cam straight-six is said to have been rebuilt during the refurbishment and is equipped with triple SU carburetors.
Engine number RA4545-9 is stamped on the cylinder head and matches the numbers indicated on the chassis plate and Jaguar Vehicle Information Record.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission that was reportedly rebuilt during the refurbishment.
The Jaguar Vehicle Information Record lists factory colors, identification numbers, and a build date of December 6, 1963.
The seller has provided a photo of the March/April 1996 Jaguar Journal indicating that the car received a 100-point score at the October 1995 Jaguar Club of Southern Arizona Concours. Service and refurbishment records, manufacturer’s literature, a black top boot, a front license plate bracket, a tool roll, a jack, a knock-off hammer, spare leather interior trim pieces, and copies of 2003 Hemmings calendars featuring the car are also included in the sale.
The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being sold on its Connecticut registration.

Beautiful period correct Carmen Red over Tan specification offered with 72,165 miles at the time of cataloging
Fully restored both mechanically and cosmetically with accompanying receipts
Offered with the original data plate in addition to tools and jack
Carefully maintained with a thoroughly documented history including its Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate
This example, previously restored with exacting mechanical and cosmetic attention, was completed to an incredibly high standard that earned a remarkable 100-point score at the October 1995 Jaguar Club of Southern Arizona Concours. While restored a number of years ago, this Series I E-Type has been carefully preserved since with a well documented history spent predominantly in Arizona before moving to the Northeast where it has been preserved with just 1 ½ mile since acquisition while enjoying annual servicing and climate controlled storage. Careful preservation ensures one is hard pressed to detect it was restored over 20 years ago, ensuring that 100 point score looks nearly as good today as it did when first completed.
Offered in a striking Carmen Red over Tan specification, this example shows 72,165 miles at the time of cataloging, of which only 41 have been added following restoration. Powered by the higher revving 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine paired with a four-speed manual transmission, this Jaguar's XK engine is fed by triple SU carburettors in sending power to the rear wheels. In keeping with the 100 point provence the car is offered with a tool kit, original stamped warranty booklet, and spare wheel. Additionally, a full leather interior was produced by the former owner in case future owners wanted full leather throughout. Jaguar experts will know the door panels and other areas were not trimmed in leather originally. Therefore for the car to achieve the 100 points the correct material was (and is) fitted to the car with a full leather option included with the car.
