Ebay item 12/28/11
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ONE-OWNER-since-1964-NUMBERS-MATCHING-FULL-SERVICE-RECOR ...
Current bid $25,100 reserve not met 14 bids 9 days left in auction. 90k miles.

Sellers description:
This Jaguar XKE has belonged to the same owner since 1964! He is not the only owner, the first owner had for a few months and 3400 miles. The car traded hands in late 1964 and has been with the same owner, same driver, same garage ever since. The documentation on the car is a collector car enthusiast's dream, laid out flat the service tickets stand about three inches` tall, complete since 1964 including a letter from Jaguar with manufactured date and all pertinent information regarding the engine, vin, transmission numbers. The car currently has a synchronized transmission installed from a later 4.2 car but the original crashbox transmission comes with the car. The car was backed into and damaged the bonnet but it appears that damage is limited to two dents, it does not appear that it got into the mouth opening or compromised the structural integrity of the bonnet. The rust is minimal, mainly where the lead seams are on the body and a couple small seams on the floorpan that could be resealed without pan replacement. The body panel gaps are great, body panels are very straight. This car has never had restoration so the imperfections are of the original sheetmetal, never been cut, wielded or bondo applied. The car really should have a proper restoration but it is good enough one could do a paint and use as a driver. I am extremely proud to have the opportunity to offer this car for sale.

Car to be at auction 10/19

rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/lf19/london/lots/r0058-1964-jaguar-e-type-series-1-38 ...

Auction description:

Lot Number 197

£70,000 - £90,000

1964 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8-Litre Roadster

RM | Sotheby's - LONDON 24 OCTOBER 2019

Chassis No.880847

Engine No. RA 4933-9

Nearly 48 years of single previous ownership

Just 1,000 miles since restoration completion in December 2015

Retains its original engine

As confirmed by accompanying documentation from the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust, this 1964 Opalescent Silver Blue E-Type was completed on 7 January 1964 and dispatched by the factory on 14 April to Jaguar Cars of New York to be delivered to its first owner, a D. Wells of Tennessee. A later Bill of Sale in the history file shows that it was purchased by Ken Sandridge III of Nashville, TN, in December of that same year. Incredibly, Sandridge went on to own the car for the next 48 years, finally selling the car in late 2012.

The E-Type was subsequently shipped to the UK in January of 2012, where it was comprehensively restored and later purchased by the consignor. Having only covered 1,000 miles since completion of the restoration, this desirable 3.8-litre Series I E-Type will still be able to make heads turn like it did more than fifty years ago.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
