Car to be at auction 3/20
rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/es20/essen/lots/r0067-1964-jaguar-e-type-series-1-38- ...

Auction description:
RM | Sotheby's - ESSEN 26 - 27 MARCH 2020
Chassis No. 881177

Retains its original engine and gearbox|
Offered from 15 years of single ownership
Fully restored and equipped with several upgrades including high-performance brakes and a stainless-steel exhaust

Originally delivered to the United States in 1964, this stunning E-Type resided there until 1988 before being shipped to Germany by a collector who restored it to a very high standard. It was subsequently acquired by a collector in North Rhine-West. The current owner added this beautiful Jaguar to his own stable of fine British and Italian sports cars in 2004. It has had an H registration for the last 15 years and has been exercised on a regular basis.

Upgrades include a Coopercraft high-performance brake system, high-performance ignition coil and ignition cable set, new spoke rims, a stainless-steel exhaust system, new clutch, as well as an additional thermal fan for reliability. The original Smith dash instruments have also been rebuilt. A complete file of receipts documenting all the parts and service performed accompany the car.

This highly desirable Series I Roadster, fastidiously serviced and ready to be enjoyed, presents beautifully in gunmetal grey with red leather. Perfectly suited for touring and club events, the E-Type Jaguar represents a milestone in sports-car design and engineering that collectors and enthusiasts have admired for decades.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
