Car to be at auction 9/10
www.barons-auctions.com/details.php

Auction description:
Model E-Type S1 FHC - LHD
First Registered 1963
Registration No NoUKReg
Engine No RA2777-9
Chassis No 888962
MOT None
Colour Ivory
Offered here is a 1963 S1 3.8 E-Type Fixed Head Coupe, which was reimported into the UK, from California, in 1994. The car has been the property of the vendor since importation and has been partly restored. It is complete with a JDHT Heritage Certificate, Customs & Excise 386 import documents, which shows all duties paid.

The car is described as being a rust free shell, which has been completely repainted in Ivory. The interior has been fully retrimmed in the correct materials and retains the original bucket seats, which are now trimmed in read leather. Other new items include a full exhaust system and some suspension bushes.

Described as being a very sound car with a 3.8 XK engine, that turns freely but is not running at the moment. The car drove well before being taken off the road. The underside of the car is said to be excellent, having never been welded and does not require any.

The car is being offered for sale because the vendor is unable to complete the restoration.

Having inspected the car, our engineers are of the opinion that it would take very little time to get the car running and ready for an MoT. But we suggest that would-be bidders should make their own inspection to satisfy themselves as to the condition.

Estimate £14500-17000

Jeffrey, was the car painted blue in 1962? As apparently it was white when sold in 2010.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
