Current bid GBP 8,000.00 (Reserve not met), 18 bids, 4 days left in auction. 79k miles.

    Sellers description:
You are bidding for one of the most desirable cars in the world, an E-type Jaguar 2+2 Fixed Head Coupé, Series II, 4.2 litre, 1969 automatic, right hand drive.

This vehicle is not concourse but it is an excellent example of originality with Sable paintwork and Cinnamon leather upholstery in good condition and with normal wear/ageing. All chrome is in very good condition. The paintwork, also believed to be original, has the usual touch-up stone chips and blemishes.

The tailpipes shown are not the cowhorn type but are from a Series I vehicle (I preferred them to the original ones).

I have recently spent £1300 on the braking and exhaust systems and have all bills for work carried out and old MOT certificates back to 1980. The vehicle has a current MOT and tax (exempt).

One unusual feature that I have not seen on an E-type is the electric factory fitted steel sunroof. The vehicle is mechanically sound with no known faults and comes with the Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirming matching details, as follows:

    Heritage Certificate Number: 17598

    Manufacture Date: 14th July 1969

    Chassis Number: PIR35439BW

    Engine Number: 7R38065-9

    Gear Box Number: 39805

    Body Number: 4R37925

    Original Dealer: Henlys, London

Date of Despatch: 12th August 1969

My aunt owned this car in the 1980s, and although I never drove the car, I can certainly remember the times I was fortunate enough to travel in it. I last saw NTP in 1989, so pleased to see she's still around.

Following last day at Goodwood (early Dec 2013 - Time: 1'58"!), a very friendly chap mentioned that the car was owned in the 1970's by a Portsmouth (hence the "P" on the plate) football player and that he had ridden in the car many times! Pleased to say that she is still very original and improving in every way as the work is carried out. This wonderful car graced the Swiss and Italian Alps during the 2012 summer with a spectacular tour that included the Stelvio, Furka and Saint-Bernard Passes via Davos, Lugano, the Val D'Aosta and Geneva. Performed admirably. More work to come. Great to hear from Stu and his aunt ownership - thank you for that. RG

Update - More work carried out - Summer 2014:
    - Full cooling system drain.
    - Evans prep fluid run & flush
    - Evans Classic Cool 180 replaces coolant. (Not that it particularly did, this E-Type should never get too warm again!)
    - Front shock absorbers lower bushes changed to Polybush.
    - Complete carburettors tune up with Gunson Colour Tune, Manual carb chamber lift, air flow meter and spark plug electrode colour check.
    - Complete set of new NGK BP5ES spark plugs.
    - Usual annual oil change with 1ltr Amtech Engine Restorer. New Filter, internal oil filter components. Castrol GP50.

On a more general note, the car is run on Super Unleaded petrol with unleaded supplement, Redex and Frost's Ethomix additive.

The car continues to be fantastic. Plenty of power and pick up using the manual kickdown on the Auto Box. Road holding on dry surfaces is very satisfying!

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
