Seller’s Description:
We are selling our increasingly rare 1970 Jaguar E-Type Series II 2+2 Coupe. It's an original California Car (always garaged, no rust); we moved to North Carolina one year ago and are looking for a local buyer here in North Carolina. We have owned and maintained her for fourteen years, and have only put 9,600 miles on it out of the current and original 79,856 miles. The numbers matching 4.2 liter dual overhead cam straight six performs very well and has since we have owned it. She has a beautiful color that underwent a 2007 bare metal repaint in a factory shade of Signal Red. We have documentation including many original books and most service records. She has a rare, 3-speed automatic gearbox, Series II power steering, as well as dual Stromberg carburetors. We have updated the standard wire wheels to a more modern chrome-plated stainless steel for durability and safety. Additionally, we have installed new coil springs and adjustable shocks for increased ride comfort and stability. Some small issues with the car include: factory air-conditioning that needs repair, a high beam switch that needs to be fixed, and a windshield washer fluid pump that does not spray. We are selling our beloved Jaguar in order to help finance our son's college tuition and help save for our retirement. Serious and local inquires would be much appreciated.

This 1970 Jaguar XKE 2+2 was built in December 1969, and it was purchased by the seller in California in 2006 before relocating to North Carolina in 2019. The car is finished in Signal Red over a black vinyl interior, and power comes from a numbers-matching 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Modifications include chrome-plated stainless steel wire wheels, adjustable shocks, an electronic distributor, and a push-button starter. This four-seat Series II XKE is now offered with service records from 2009 to present, owner’s and service manuals, and a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.
This example was refinished in its factory Signal Red in 2007. The windshield washer fluid pump is inoperable, the taillights are different models.
Chrome-plated 15″ stainless steel wire wheels were installed during the seller’s ownership and are mounted with Pirelli Cinturato P3000 tires that the seller states are in need of replacement. Adjustable shocks were also fitted during the seller’s ownership, and the seller notes that the hub splines are worn and the steering rack leaks.
The cabin features seats trimmed in black vinyl with a matching dashboard, center console, door panels, and carpets. A Pioneer CD stereo is fitted, and a starter button was installed to the left of the steering column. Tears are noted in the front seat inserts and the air-conditioning system and high-beam switch do not work.
The wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel frames factory instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline. Auxiliary gauges are located at the center of the dash. Just under 80k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, approximately 10k of which have been added under the seller’s ownership.
The numbers-matching 4.2 liter inline-six features a pair of Zenith-Stromberg sidedraft carburetors and was factory-rated at 245 horsepower when new. An electronic distributor was installed during the seller’s ownership, and an oil change was performed in September 2020. The freeze plugs on the right side of the engine block are said to leak under pressure. Engine stamping 7R38729–9 and matches the chassis tag.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission, and the seller notes that both the differential and the transmission have leaks. Service records from current ownership are included in the sale, along with repair manuals and factory literature.
