on ebay 01/07

cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-Unique-1973-XKE-S3-Roadster-4-Speed_W0QQit ...

Car has a Buy It Now price of $26,500.

Owner states: This is a unique XKE Jaguar which has been modified about 20 years ago at great expense with custom engineering to add twin turbochargers. A single Predator carburator feeds two Rayjay turbos. The polished aluminum inlet manifolds are water cooled, then water injection is applied at full throttle to cool the charge. Ignition is from an MSD unit and a separate oil cooler is mounted in the hood. The oil filter is a spin on-unit. I added two glasspacks to the custom fabricated exhaust as it was unsociable when I purchased it in Orlando, FL. This car drove well before it was garaged, but I would assume that it may not be driven any distance before a checkout. I do not know of any major rust issues and the bonnet is fiberglass. There was some hood damage during transportation, but this has been substantially repaired with the cracks stress relieved and backed with fibreglass mat. This car needs some work. I have listed the known items that I was planning to undertake, but a change in circumstances have forced its sale. It will be an interesting car to display with the monster engine and tubes. The following work is required, but the car is sold AS-IS and there may be other items that have developed over the years that I am unaware off, or forgotten. I have changed all fluids, bled brakes, clutch master and slave, and turn over the engine occasionally. It has been kept covered in a humidity controlled garage. The tyres need replaced due to UV damage, but the spare looks perfect. Wire wheels are in good condition, but I would replace a few spokes when the tires are done. The original color was dark blue, resprayed Primrose Yellow which looks great with the black interior. Paint cracking and the hood repair means that a respray is required. The lower bends of the exhaust pipe have corroded and I planned to weld plates to repair this complex pipe. All the rubber items should be checked. The handbrake does not work and may need the pads or adjustment repaired at the back axle. AC needs leak checked and charged. There are some smaller items and I bought parts as shown in the picture which are included including a workshop manual. Brake fluid bottles and level sensors are new. There is no jack or toolkit, but there is a handbook, hammer, and wheel nut remover adapter. The interior is in generally good shape. Chrome is mostly excellent. Looks like an older lightly used restoration. Carpet, interior trim, and rear box are in great shape. New rubber floor mats are included. The convertible top looks great. A boost gauge replaces the clock. Oil gauge is non standard, but I bought a used Smiths one to replace it with. The mileage is not verified. I have tried to describe this car fairly, but prospective buyers are welcome to inspect the car in Central Florida by arrangement prior to bidding. JCNA member.

I purchased this car from the engine builder. Owned it for a couple of years; 1984 and 1985. Happy to update history and timeline for anyone interested.

Ebay item 4/30/22

www.ebay.com/itm/325169506383

Car has a buy it now price of $59,700 for 6 days, seller idc21, car now in Longwood, Florida, 23k miles, previously Travares, Florida.

Seller's description:

I purchased this unique 1973 Series III XKE roadster in 1999 and have spent the last 22 years restoring it. This is a 4 speed roadster with wire wheels. The current odometer reading is 23,220 miles. A documented 203 miles were driven in last 9 years, and an estimated 500 miles in last 22 years. The JDHT Certificate is included. It is believed that this unique car was engineered in Atlanta in the eighties. It is not a race car, but designed for show-and-tell where the interesting features can be shared. With the V12 E types finally being recognized, it is also a good candidate to be converted to the original configuration.

The car features twin Ray Jay aircraft turbos, It was obviously professionally engineered with a Predator Carburetor, manifold intercooler, water/alcohol injection, MSD ignition, oil cooler in nose, spin-on oil filter, and manually operated manifold fuel injection for easier starting. The exhaust is dual straight through with two in-line silencers. I fitted a Holley fuel pump with a slightly higher pressure to recirculate the fuel and avoid vapor lock, but the SU original is included. A period radio is fitted, probably the original and it works with replaced speakers in the existing cavities. On purchase, the car had been resprayed to primrose yellow, but I had the car stripped to the metal, epoxy coated, and resprayed to the original dark blue color. There was no rust found and the panel fit is good. The bonnet is fiberglass. The front appearance has been modified (looks good in my opinion), but some original trim is included. The suspension is original, but with 4 adjustable GAZ shocks. An OPTIMA battery and lightweight geared starter is fitted with a spare and also the original. An INNOVATE exhaust fuel /air ratio sensor with digital display checks the exhaust mixture. A wooden steering wheel is fitted but the original is included, together with a spare carburetor, and many other parts. For documentation, the Heritage Parts and Workshop manual CD are included, along with hard copy workshop and owner’s manual and schematics. The tool set, jack, wheel removal tool, hammer, soft top, and tonneau cover are included.

Replacement/restoration parts and tasks are too many to mention, but receipts are included and the main receipts are scanned.  Both cylinder head banks were rebuilt with new valves, springs etc., costing $6,600. Rear suspension and brakes, handbrake, water pump, and radiator were rebuilt. Belts and hoses were replaced. The reason for sale is that I do not have the time to run and maintain a 49 year old British car. It should owned by someone with mechanical sympathies.  More use is desirable. I know of no major problems, but there are small issues that need to be occasionally addressed and like all old British cars, there are fluid drips. A hill climb video is available and I have a hard top for sale separately.
