Ebay item 5/10/05
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $5,000.00 (Reserve not met), 1 bid, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1973 series 111 V 12 convertible.

This is your chance to own a XKE V-12 and only pay 1/2 as much as a finished Jaguar!

This xke represents a "True Survivor". Every indication is that this jag has been untampered with; leaving it in its original unrestored state.

This car was purchased about 1 year ago. The Jag came from Michigan, where, I believe, it has been most of its life. My intentions were to restore the car, but I have other commitments now. In my opinion, this is a SUPER car to restore. This 'cat' shows tracks of original paint (white) and I believe this is the correct mileage of 17,851. (although I can not verify this mileage). The title states original mileage & there are tell-tale signs that point to what I believe of true mileage. I believe that the past owner had this car for over 15 years. From what I can tell, he left the car outside for a while ( I do not know how long). There is surface rust. This car is not a rust bucket. It is actually a very solid Jag, if you can overlook surface rust. I do not have any other history on this car. The past owner told me the car was running approximately 7-8 years ago. I have done no work to this car except I turned the engine over with the battery. I believe that this would be a easy restoration for anyone who loves V 12 Jag roadsters. I have set a fair reserve. Please do not ask me what it is. Also, I will let the auction go the full duration. I will not sell Jag before the auction ends.

VEHICLE CONDITION :
Car # UD1S23056 Body # 4S4770 Engine # 7S12168LB Gearbox # KL5540

* Mileage : 17,851. I believe that this is the correct original mileage. Title states this, although, I can not guarantee it.
* Paint : White, correct & original.
* All numbers match.
* Good title.
* This is a Complete car. All parts are there; interior & exterior.
* Engine : Is loose and does turn over with battery. It does not run. Assume engine will need tuned up.
* Body condition: Surface rust only (from sitting outside). This car is solid. There is no rust holes, that I know of. Rocker panels, trunk area , and sills are all solid. Floors are very solid; front & rears. The body does look straight. I have no knowledge of any filler in body. Bonnet, doors & trunk - Shut & are aligned.
* Frame is solid. Crossmembers & engine frame bars show no signs of accidents.
* Top : Top bows are there, although jag needs a new rag top.
* Battery Tray: Rusty.
* Windshield : Has a crack in.
* Interior: Blue leather; All interior is complete.
* Brakes: Car has not been driven in approximately 7 years.
* Clutch : Car has not been driven in approximately 7 years.
* Chrome : Usable and still shines.
* Wire wheels : Average shape; May clean up nicely.

 Looking for a cozy cat, one you can wrap yourself up in and take on a spirited sprint? MotoeXotica Classic Cars has the scratch for your feline itch with this 1973 Jaguar XK-E Series III Roadster. It is one of only 7,990 Jaguar XK-E roadsters made between 1971 and 1975. This incredible cat has undergone an extensive nut and bolt restoration from top to bottom and is ready to win the next Jaguar car show!

Dressed in Regency Red, this car’s paint and trim are in overall excellent condition. The bodywork is straight and solid, the engine bay is extremely tidy, the battery appears new and the chrome bumpers with bumper guards are in very good order. The engine compartment is highly detailed and so is the complex 4 coiled rear end. Please make sure you view the photos of the undercarriage to appreciate!

This cat rolls on Dunlop Elite 70 whitewall radials, size FR 70-15 at all four corners. Each tire is mounted to a Jaguar knock-off wire wheel. The tires and wheels are all in very good condition.

Under the large, tilt-forward bonnet and front fenders is the car’s 5.3L V-12 engine with four Zenith-Stromberg carburetors. Backing this engine is the original four-speed manual transmission and a 3.54:1 rear end. Driver convenience features include standard power steering, power four-wheel disc brakes and adjustable steering column.

Inside, the Tan Connolly Leather bucket seats are in excellent condition. The matching Wilton Wool Carpeting is in very good condition. The factory three-spoke steering wheel is in great shape. The padded instrument panel, with its Smith gauges, is in very good order, as are the inner door panels. The center console and shift lever with its burled wood knob, are in a similar very fine order. Completing the interior is a factory AM/FM stereo with cassette deck.

The exterior finish is in excellent shape with the paint having a high degree of finish and luster. A high end ceramic coat finish was recently professionally applied and the cloth and boot are also in excellent condition without known flaws.

The E-Type Series III was introduced in 1971, with a new 5.3L Jaguar V-12 engine, uprated brakes and standard power steering. Optionally, an automatic transmission, wire wheels and air-conditioning were available. The brand-new V-12 engine was originally developed for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was equipped with four Zenith carburetors. The final engine was claimed to produce 272 horsepower, more torque, and a 0-60 mph acceleration of less than seven seconds. The short wheelbase fixed-head coupe body style was discontinued, with the Series III available only as a convertible and 2+2 coupé.

The newly used longer wheelbase now offered significantly more room in all directions. The Series III is easily identifiable by the large cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches, wider tires, four exhaust tips and a badge on the rear that proclaims it to be a V-12.

Cars for the US market were fitted with large projecting rubber bumper over-riders (in 1973 these were on front, in 1974 both front and rear) to meet local five mph impact regulations, but those on European models were considerably smaller. US models also have side indicator repeats on the front wings. When leaving the factory, the V-12 open two-seater and V-12 2+2 originally fitted Dunlop E70VR – 15-inch tires on 15 × 6K wire or solid wheels.

Documentation includes miscellaneous invoices and other details about the car.

Classified ad price $91,000, seller gateway-classic-cars car now said to be in Pompano Beach, Florida, 18k miles, previously St. Louis, MO

Seller's description:

Gateway Classic Cars of Fort Lauderdale is happy to present this gorgeous 1973 Jaguar XKE Series III V12 Roadster for your consideration.

Look at the sexy lines on this British machine! Yeah, Baby. It looks outstanding in Imperial Red with an abundance of high quality chrome and real wire wheels with whitewalls. It's a beautiful machine top up or down, for sure. Condition is very nice throughout.

The heart of this machine is Jaguars track proven 5.3 V12, equipped with four Zenith carburetors, 272 advertised silky-smooth horsepower, and a 0-60 times under seven seconds. Combined with the 4-speed transmission and relatively low curb weight, these cars were serious performers- direct competitors to Chevrolet's Corvettes, and are highly prized collectibles today. This one fires right up and runs well. Flip a couple interior levers, and the long hood tilts forward, making engine access quite good. And it is a work of art under there, a nice piece to show for sure. The seller indicates both then engine, and transmission have been rebuilt.

The interior is all-business, with an aircraft like cockpit and plenty of controls to entertain you. Quite a bit of restoration was done to her, leaving one pretty car you can be proud of.

It is uncommon to see one of these classy Jags driving down the road, and when you come across a nice one like this, they really stand out and get the attention. Consider this one before you think about finding and buying one to restore.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
