This 1974 Jaguar E-Type Series III roadster was delivered new to a dealer in Buffalo, New York, and it was purchased 23 years ago by the seller, who has since driven the car approximately 13k miles. Power is from a 5.3-liter V12 linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The car was repainted in Signal Red two decades ago under current ownership, and the cabin is upholstered in Biscuit leather. Features include a black soft top, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, 15” knock-off wire wheels, quadruple carburetors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, and air conditioning. This Series III E-Type is now offered with a window sticker, literature, records, a jack, tools, and a clean Maryland title in the name of the seller’s trust.
The car was refinished in Signal Red approximately two decades ago under current ownership, and it features a black soft top, uncovered Sylvania headlights, a forward-hinged louvered hood, US-spec bumpers, and a power antenna. Loose seals beneath the chrome trim are noted by the seller, who reports that the car was refurbished circa 1991.
The 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured by knock-off spinners and are mounted with Dunlop SP Sport radial tires. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The brake cylinders were rebuilt three years ago.
The cabin features seating surfaces upholstered in Biscuit leather as well as color-coordinated door panels. Interior amenities include a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, a locking glovebox, and air conditioning. A gasoline odor is noted when opening the trunk, the choke cover tab is loose, and the exterior mirror adjuster knob is missing. Other signs of wear, including missing climate-control vent slats, are visible.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock along with auxiliary gauges are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 47k miles, approximately 13k of which were added under current ownership.
The 5.3-liter V12 was factory equipped with quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was rated at 241 horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque when new. The oil pressure sending unit was replaced in 2002, the voltage regulator was changed in 2007, the carburetors were overhauled in 2016, and the fuel pump was rebuilt in 2022. An oil leak and missing paint beneath the engine lid are noted by the seller.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The clutch slave cylinder was replaced approximately 22 years ago.
The window sticker lists initial delivery to a dealer in Buffalo, New York, as well as factory colors, equipment, and a total price of $10,259.75. The sale also includes literature, records, and tools.
