This 1974 Jaguar E-Type is a Series III roadster that is powered by a numbers-matching 5.3-liter V12 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in blue over red leather. Equipment includes a blue convertible soft top and boot cover, chrome bumpers, driving lights, and 15” knock-off wire wheels. The car was sold new by Jake Kaplan’s LTD of Providence, Rhode Island and was acquired by the seller in February 2020 after the car reportedly had spent time in Texas and California. Modifications under current ownership include the fitment of six Weber 40 IDF carburetors and Pertronix electronic ignition. This Series III E-Type is offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, service records dating back to 2007, spare parts including removed air-conditioning components, and a clean Colorado title in the seller’s name.

The car left the factory finished in Dark Blue and is said to have been repainted in approximately 2001 under prior ownership. Features include V12 badging on the trunk lid as well as a blue convertible soft top with a matching boot cover. Equipment includes chrome trim, front and rear bumper guards, hood louvers, and centrally located quad exhaust outlets. A pair of driving lights are located behind the grille.

Chrome-finished 15” wire wheels wear knock-off hubs and 205/70 Toyo Extensa whitewall tires that are said to have been fitted in 2020. The car is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, and independent front and rear suspension. Service in November 2016 by Werner Schott Classic Car Repair of Santa Barbara, California included replacing the brake discs, suspension bushings, shocks, and brake lines, as well as adjusting the suspension.

The cabin is said to have been reupholstered in Russett leather in 2013, a process that also included replacing the seat and headrest cushions. Features include a console with an armrest, a lockable glovebox, sun visors, and chrome trim. The Panasonic cassette player is inoperable, as is the clock, and the air-conditioner components have been removed but are included in the sale. A Dakota cooling-fan controller is fitted in the console.

A leather-wrapped steering wheel frames Smiths gauges consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer. The five-digit odometer shows 42k miles, approximately 450 of which were added by the seller.

The 5.3-liter V12 has been modified to accommodate six Weber 40 IDF carburetors, velocity stacks, revised linkage, an electric cooling fan, 160-degree thermostats, and a Pertronix electronic ignition system. The removed Zenith-Stromberg carburetors as well as Weber carburetor-jet packs are included in the sale. The ignition and fuel-delivery systems were serviced, and the coolant and oil were replaced in preparation for the sale.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The rear-differential pinion seal as well as the oil-pan gasket and the front crankshaft seal were replaced, and the seller notes an oil leak emanating from the right side of the engine.

Engine number 7S14565LA stamped on the block matches the sequence indicated both on the chassis plate and on the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists the original colors as well as component numbers and delivery information. A number of service records and accompanying spare parts are included.
