Car at auction in 2015

www.auctionsamerica.com/events/feature-lots.cfm

Auction description:

1974 Jaguar E-Type Series III V-12 Roadster

Mundt Collection

Lot No. 174

To be offered on Friday, March 27, 2015

Estimate: $ 70,000 - $ 90,000

This beautifully styled machine is driven by a 5.3-liter, 272 horsepower aluminum block V-12 engine with four Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, and a fully synchronized four-speed manual gearbox. Jaguar pioneered the use of four-wheel disc brakes during its now legendary string of victories at the Le Mans 24 Hours in the 1950s. So, of course, they utilize nothing but this system on their premier road cars. In the case of the E-Type, they have power assist and are ventilated in front and mounted inboard at the rear. For a most positive feel for the road, power assisted rack-and-pinion steering is also standard.

Having received a frame-off restoration, this Jaguar is finished in Primrose Yellow with a black interior and black soft-top. This exciting British sports car is further equipped with desirable factory air conditioning, heater, optional chrome wire wheels, Vredestein blackwall tires, Smiths instrumentation, luggage rack, AM/FM radio with cassette, plus the accessory, and uncommon Jaguar issue of removable hardtop.

Car returns to ebay 10/2/16
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-E-Type-2-2-V12-/272398471782
Classified ad price $49,995, seller streetsideclassiccars, 36k miles.

Sellers description:
Pale Primrose is this car's factory correct color. It somehow strikes a perfect balance by being an attractive yellow, without falling into an "electric" hue. But the reason why you love it some much is because it has benefited from a professional respray. Now this perfectly subtle British color features modern clearcoat, so you really get to see all the curves that make up one of the most beautiful designs ever put to metal. Speaking of beauty, the '72 model was produced before these cars were fitted with the larger federally mandated rubber bumpers. So, there's nothing to get in the way of the brightwork on this coupe, and that's good because this one sparkles.

The premium black leather interior coordinates nicely with the exterior. This is where the Series III cars really feel great for grand touring comfort. You still get all those great driving features from the previous generations, such as how the door panels and center console come together to envelope you in that perfect European driving experience. This is further enhanced by the three-spoke sports steering wheel, the gear stick that's always within close reach, and the full set of Smiths gauges. Plus, the 2+2 comes with a usable back seat and large cargo area. But now this has even more luxurious features, like the original AM/FM radio and cold factory air conditioning to provide all-day comfort. It's all presented with such originality that there's just the perfect amount of patina to reinforce all this history.

The 5.3-liter V12 was the answer for torque-hungry American roads, and it fits the bill superbly. This transforms the E-Type into an effortless cruiser that's basically capable of running all day at triple-digit speeds, yet perfectly happy to idle in rush-hour traffic. It only gets better when you realize this numbers-matching motor is likely showing 36,569 original miles. The race-inspired V12 fires up with an intoxicating exhaust note that only gets better as you smile your way through the four-speed gearbox. The racer lineage is even felt in the fully independent suspension, but as noted before, the Series III cars are not just performance. They are also the best for the long journeys. That's why this one has great anytime features such as power steering, four-wheel disc brakes, and Dunlop sports tires.

Car returns to ebay 12/23/20

Car has a buy it now price of 130,000 for 9 days, seller wvcraft, 18k miles. Car now said to be in Albany, Oregon, previously said to be in Concord, North Carolina.

Seller's description:

Beautiful 18675 Original mile professionally restored 1974 Jaguar XKE Roadster

Purchased from estate of Orginal owner 2 years ago

This Pale Primrose Yellow 1974 EE-Type roadster is an incredible, low mileage car that has been extensively restored to a very high standard. Sold new in Pennsylvania, its first owner was Ray Mundt. The Jaguar served as a company car for Mr. Mundt, and he originally registered it to Royston Distributors, a subsidiary of the once mighty ALCP Standard Corporation, of which Mr. Mundt would eventually serve as the President, CEO and Chairman of the Board. A somewhat unlikely company car, Mr. Mundt cherished this Jaguar, keeping it for over 40 years and accruing a mere 18,000 miles in that time.

It was very well-equipped from new, fitted with the very rare optional factory top, air conditioning, stereo, 4-speed manual gearbox, and luggage rack. Pale Primrose Yellow is considered by many to be among the most attractive shades for the Series III E-Type, with the black hard and soft tops providing a pleasing contrast on this car. The paint quality and body fit are truly exquisite, with restored exterior brightwork. The undercarriage and engine bay have all been fully restored with hardly a nut or screw left unturned. Proper paints and finishes were used throughout to give this car a showroom fresh appearance particularly under the bonnet where the big V12 is simply gleaming. Likewise, the suspension has been beautifully restored and detailed and a full stainless steel exhaust has been fitted to provide lifetime service and a rich mellow soundtrack from the V12 engine. The car sits with an aggressive stance on period correct whitewall radials and lovely chrome knock-off wheels.

Thanks to the exceptionally low mileage, the black leather cabin could be restored only as needed, with much of the original trim being carefully preserved. Seats and carpets appear new, while the vinyl dash panel, console and instruments appear to be original. A new black soft top and matching canvas boot were fitted and the original hard top was repainted, though it retains its factory headlining and trim, all in outstanding condition. Even the trunk has been properly restored with correct tan Hardura upholstery. The sale includes the original owner's manual, stamped service booklet, radio manuals, and warranty cards. Also has matching spare tire and wire knock off wheel with lead hammer.

The twelve-cylinder Series III was once the neglected sibling in the E-Type family, but a new resurgence in interest has seen value and collectability on the rise for these excellent GT cars. Rarely do V12 E-Types appear in such beautifully restored condition. This is an outstanding opportunity to acquire a low-mileage, E-Type, ready for enjoyment on the road.

After taking delivery of the car 2 years ago it was taken to The Sports Car Shop inc. in Eugene Oregon. They are a top shop In the Northwest specializing in European Exotics.

The car had a small oil leak at camshaft seal. The shop removed, resealed and rebuilt both cylinder heads to include new valves and seats. Carburetors were rebuilt as well.

Brake system was Completely rebuilt also. Total cost $15000 in receipts. Motor and chassis now looks and performs absolutely like new with zero leaks or issues. Motor has excellent oil pressure above 40 psi. Sale will include Factory Original Hard Top of course.  You simply will not find a nicer example anywhere.
