The theory is the correct plates had not yet been delivered to the assembly when the car was being built, so they used a second plate with the proper infomration from another model which had already started using the all-synchro box. Does your car have a similar plate?

I owned FHC 1E30036 from 1982 until 1998. It too had the chassis plate modified to reflect the new gearbox's lubrication requirements. The car is registered on this site.

I finally finished the car in Dec 2011, altho' it still needs to be buffed out on part of it. This has been the longest restoration I've undertaken at nearly 8 years. My XK150S only took 5 years so I'm slowing down in my old age(73)
The car is very nice, drives well and gets lots of high fives. I think this is the last one I'll do, I have 7 cars in all and finding time to drive them is getting to be a problem.
