Is your car # have the 1E prefix or is it just 10269 ???? My 1964 XKE Series I 4.2L LHD OTS has a factory build plate with the car number 10272 with no 1E prefix. The body #4E1301, Engine # 7E1591-9, and Gear Box # EJ603. I have noticed that two or three other Series I 4.2L with Car numbers in the first 200-300 of the production run also have only a five number Car designation with NO 1E prefix. It would seem that your car would fit into that group. Please let me know whether the 1E prefix was used for your Car and what the body, engine and gear box numbers are for you early 4.2 Series I XKE.

1964 Jaguar E-Type Semi-Lightweight built by XK Engineering.

The car started life as a 4.2 litre Open Two Seater which was originally delivered in Daytona Beach, Florida, USA.

It was then imported to the UK where it was completely rebuilt from the grounds-up in the early 1990's by the well known Jaguar specialist XK Engineering to Semi-Lightweight specifications.

The specifications include a triple Weber 4.2 litre engine fitted with an oil-cooler and electronic ignition matted to a 5-Speed Getrag gearbox.

After completion the car was Road registered in Switzerland where it became a regular sight in numerous classic car events, hillclimbs, and rallies.

Very powerful and with modern drivability, this car would be the perfect addtion to any discerning collection.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
