This 1965 Jaguar XKE Series I roadster is a non-running project that was built on November 10, 1964, and it is finished in Pale Primrose over black leather. The car is equipped with a 4.2-liter inline-six, a four-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, a black soft top and boot, enclosed headlights, 15″ wire-spoke steel wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, and a heater. This XKE Series I roadster was acquired by the current owner in 2024 and is now offered at no reserve on dealer consignment with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, removed parts, and a clean Oregon title.
The Series I E-Types were equipped with covered headlights and taillights mounted above the chrome rear bumpers. This example came finished from the factory in Pale Primrose, and additional equipment includes a black soft top, a soft top boot, enclosed headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, and dual exhaust outlets. Rust and paint flaking are present throughout the body.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with older FR70HR15 Dunlop tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black leather along with color-coordinated door panels. The carpets and shift knob have been removed and there are tears in the seats and door panels. An AM radio accompanies the vehicle.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 78k miles.
The 4.2-liter inline-six is linked with a four-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential. Three SU carburetors are included in the sale. The engine is not in running condition, and it is unknown when the car was last driven.
The cylinder head stamp reads 7E1616-9.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.
