Ebay item 10/18/09
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-Jaguar-XKE_W0QQitemZ140353064000
Current bid $12,100 reserve not met, 2 bids 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
This is a true barn find. This car was last registered in Montana in 1979. It has what I belive is 66,989 original miles and has what I belive is the origonal engine (number on the cylinder head matches the number on the identification plate). I have owned this car since 2003, but have realized that I do not have the time or the funds to properly restore it. The person I bought it from told me that he purchased the car in Washington, drove it for a few years and then parked it in a shed on his farm. Unfortunatley, before he parked it he stripped the paint off. It was origonally opalescent silver with a red interior (you can still see some of the origonal paint on the drivers door). The car does have rust, and will need a complete nut and bolt restoration to bring it up to the standard it deserves. It is not running, so you will be responsible for arranging pick up.

Car to be at auction 7/11
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

Auction description:
Lot 148 - 1965 Jaguar E-Type Series I 4.2 Litre Roadster
148 - 1965 Jaguar E-Type Series I 4.2 Litre Roadster
Estimate: £45,000 - £55,000
Registration Number: ECD 587C
Chassis Number: IE10626

The matching numbers Series 1 4.2 Roadster you see here was first registered on the 9th February 1965 via Jaguar Cars, New York. It was delivered to a Mr. Bander Clisaud of Seattle and supplied then as now in the classic E Type colour combination of Opalescent Silver Grey paint with a red leather interior.

Recently sourced from a Jaguar specialist in dry-state Arizona, it imported to the UK by the current vendor, who commenced restoration work to the car. Upon inspection he found that the body was rust-free with, we believe, its original panels, and still fitted with its original floorpans.

The body was stripped to bare metal and repainted in its original colour, and the interior was retrimmed in its original shade of red leather. In addition a new hood was fitted in black mohair, as was a new replacement windscreen. Externally the bumpers were re-chromed and the owner is awaiting delivery of new chrome wire wheels and tyres, which will be fitted to the car before sale. The suspension was dismantled and rebuilt with new bushes, and steering gaiters, and a new clutch has been fitted, alongside new slave and master cylinders.

Supplied with a current MOT, V5 and Heritage Certificate, and presented in a fabulous colour combination, ECD 587C offers fantastic value for those seeking fantastic Series 1 looks with the improved practicality of the later 4.2 model.

Note: the owner is awaiting delivery of new chrome wire wheels and tyres, which will be fitted to the car before sale.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
