I just purchased XKE 1E1060. I believe the prior owner was the person that purchased it in Monterey in 2006 (the Dealer that sold it to me took it as a trade in). The key fob that the keys are on is the RM Auction Monterey key fob. Car is still in great condition, although it has few very minor chips, etc. Other condition issues are related to the lack of use (driven less than 300 miles since it was purchased in Monterey, car just turned 59,000 miles on the odometer). First order of business is to fettle with it and sort out these lack of use issues (replace 048 date code tires, coolant hoses, R&R sticky front left caliper, etc.)

Thank you for maintaining the site! It actually was one of the reasons I decided to look at the car since dealer had pretty much zero history beyond last owner and even then very little. The fact that you documented that it was restored by Classic Showcase convinced me to pursue it and then look at it. Glad I did! Car is truly beautiful..

Lot #173373

This 1965 Jaguar XKE Series I roadster was refurbished in the 2000s and was acquired by the seller in 2022. Subsequent work involved a rebuild of the 4.2-liter inline-six, an overhaul of the carburetors, various paint repairs, the installation of a stainless-steel exhaust system, and replacement of the soft top, tires, engine mounts, and radio. Finished in Opalescent Silver Blue over dark blue leather, the car is equipped with a four-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, a soft top boot, enclosed headlights, 15″ wire-spoke steel wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, triple windshield wipers, an AM/FM radio, and a heater. This XKE Series I roadster is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, a tool kit, the owner’s manual, service records, spare parts, a custom car cover, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

This example came finished from the factory in Opalescent Silver Blue and was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment. Work performed in 2022 by Classic Showcase of Oceanside, California, involved repainting the lower trunk area, bonnet, and underside of the car along with repairs of the front valance, paint damage on the left frame rail, a crack on the lower left rocker, and corrosion on the rockers. A replacement blue soft top was also installed at that time, while the right front of the car was refinished in 2023.

The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and were mounted with 185/15 Vredenstein Classic tires by Classic Showcase in 2022. The spare was also replaced and an alignment was performed. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.

The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in dark blue leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. The driver’s seat was repaired in 2022 and a replacement AM/FM stereo and antenna were installed.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 60k miles, approximately 1,500 of which were added under current ownership. A replacement horn button was installed in 2022 and the temperature gauge sending unit was replaced in 2024.

The 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. The engine was rebuilt in 2023 by The Intrepid Motor Car Company of Sparks, Nevada, and the carburetors were also overhauled at that time, with additional work outlined on receipts provided in the gallery.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. A replacement clutch was installed by The Intrepid Motor Car Company at the time of the engine rebuild. A stainless-steel exhaust system and replacement manifolds were installed in 2022.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.

There is currently a lien out on the car, and the seller’s lender will need to be paid off before the title can be transferred to the new owner.
